What age do they start marking?? Baxter is about 15 weeks old now and he has started lifting his leg when he pee's and he has been humping his toys now. Hs still goes to his pee pad most of the time but he stands on the edge of the pad facing his gate and lifts his leg so he misses the pad and pees thru the gate and onto the floor. Isn't he too young for this type of behavior. I was told if you get them nutered before 6 months they wont do this, will he stop after he is nutered??? |
Not sure.. I have a Shih tzu that is 8 months old and he still don't lift his leg. |
I think Mac started at birth. Even being neutered he still likes to play with Mr. Humpy Frog. |
Oh my! That is young. Rebel still doesn't lift his leg and he's 7 months old now. |
Whiz, the little male that Pat had, started lifting his leg and peeing out the side of the cage at 10 weeks.. |
My male is 12 months and he just did it for the first time. |
Yeah Tigger is six months old and when we're at Petsmart he sniffs around like he's going to lift his leg, but never does. when he does finally decide to do it, I'm going to be so proud of him. |
One of my males hikes his leg already and he's only 6 weeks(and 3 days)!! I don't know when each of them learn to do it, but I don't think getting him neutered will stop him from hiking his leg! That's just a natural thing little boys do. Suz |
Joey started both - marking and humping toys - at about 4 1/2 months. There doesn't seem to be a consensus of opinion on whether or not these behaviors stop when they are neutered. Apparently, it works for some but not all. |
My little guy is 5 months and he has shown no signs of lifting his leg or humping anyone or anything!! ( I bought him for a stud and he has a female in heat right in his own house and doesn't care??!!??) Go figure just my luck, a stud dog who doesn't like girls!! LOL  |
Dollar doesnt lift his leg to pee but he does hump everything....LOL! he is 5 months this month |
Rocky is 4 months (today) and he hicks is leg sometimes when he going pee-pee outside. But he has humped a toy or two on occassion, but it is not an everyday thing. My vet said that when I get him fixed in about a month there is a 50/50% chance that all this will stop. It just depends on the dog I guess. |
