puppy coat I know this is a grooming question but I was wondering. At what age should you cut a puppy's hair? Also if they appear to have a skinny body and legs, is it better to leave the hair longer. Khloe goes to the groomers on next Monday and I am afraid she will be funny looking cut down. She will be 11 months on Nov. 8th. |
It's your choice. Or at least it should be. Personally, I would not want my dog to be shaved down. Some groomers prefer to shave them down because it is easier. Do you know what you want done? |
Weve had waffles all hair and shaved. Shaved works better for us with all the camping/outdoorsy stuff we do. We shaved he after a trip where she was covered in burrs and foxtails, and pine sap. Its personal choice. One thing ive noticed is she gets cold very easily being shaved. So I always have a tshirt or jacket for her handy. |
I don't want to shave her down. I may want her hair cut short but I am afraid because of her skinny long legs. |
Abby is just over a year and long and lanky. Her hair is silky and stick straight. I trimmed her up as a puppy because her hair was thin and straggly but now that it is filling out and "winter" is coming- I have let it grow and she is starting to look really adorable! The longer hair does make her legs look shorter and I always leave the paw round so not to see the toes. |
They can cut it to whatever length you want. Just make it clear what you want done. I didn't notice where you live but if the weather gets cold there this time of year it may not be the best to get a very short cut. If you want them to leave a couple of inches of length they should be able to do that. If they say they can't I would find a different groomer. |
