I thought breeding was to better the breed?! Do correct me if I'm wrong, but it does not seem to be what you are doing...sorry this is just another example of irresponsible breeding. I would never risk the life of my girls...especially knowing that the first whelp did not go as smoothly as one would hope. And you went ahead and bred her again...AND left her alone during the whelp....I don't know of any breeder that would do this....poor baby...ANYTHING could have gone wrong, as another poster has already stated, you could have lost mom, the litter or both mom and the litter. I have to ask...what were you thinking? Sorry if that sounds harsh, but really....WHY?? However I AM glad that mom is ok. |
I'm glad momma and babies are doing great. I never leave females unattended when whelping, just because something could go wrong, and it's not something I am willing to chance. I also have to wonder... I have never personally had an oops litter. I have made the mistake of sending a bitch back to her owner too soon and she getting bred by the male dog in the house, but in my hands, never. Sadly, it's this kind of thing that AR folk bring up when they push for MSN legislation. That people cannot be trusted to have unsterilized pets. I don't care if you bred your pet quality, non pedigreed dogs. What I do have a problem with is the possible lie about the circumstances of the conception. Really, if you did it on purpose, own up to it. Who cares if a bunch of people you don't know on the internet approve of what you do with your dogs? I'm not going to go on all about improving the breed and such because I can't see how any breed is being improved by closed gene pools and popular sire syndrome, but that's just me. I believe that when you improve the dog, you improve the breed, and that is why THE most important thing about a dog is it's health and it's temperament, then it's conformation in that order. Papers and pedigree means jack all to a defective pure bred dog from top show breeder champion kennels. So to that end, if you're going to be breeding your pet quality dogs for the pet market, the least you can do is get them health checked. Along the same lines, even if you're breeding pet quality dogs, you can improve the breed by breeding for health, and breeding registerable dogs. Not strays you picked up off the street. Not that my opinion should matter, I'm just another stranger on the internet. |
There are so many things wrong in these two posts, and red flags are going up everywhere. Your poor little girl is only 4 pounds, and the male you bred her to is 6 pound rescue dog? You docked the tails yourself? You had no health testing, or prenatal care? You left an undersized female (who was too small to be bred) alone to give birth, when she had complications in the past. The pup got stuck the first time because mama was too small and should have never been bred with a dog larger than herself in the first place. And then you say "enjoy your dog". Really? I'm sorry, but this is not my idea of enjoying my dog. I'm going to say this, and if I get a warning, well then, so be it, but you actions are nothing more than a back yard breeder would do. The only reason someone would breed under these conditions a second time is because they want future breeding stock, or Christmas money. You are a textbook example of everything that we plead for people NOT to do each and every day here on YT. To any others considering breeding their dogs, please understand that many of us here on YT do not agree with this lady's advise. I respect that you have your opinion, and your right to post, but in my opinion, your actions were irresponsible and dangerous to your poor little girl and those puppies. Your posts made me sad. |

I am not trying to start anything here OP, but I am confused I just went back and read some of you earlier threads and you said you paid dearly for both your dogs, but when you were trying to sell the pup from the last litter you said dad was a rescue? Maybe I am reading it wrong . |
