AKC papers?
 
when i got my swayzee i also got her papers but i noticed on them the mother had the name duchess belle kat....now ive never had a dog akc before so i do wonder a few things. do we have to have a name like that? can it be something really simple? her breeder actually called her cricket but ewhen i brought her home i really didnt picture her as a cricket so i call her swayzee but i wonder can she just have swayzee as the name on her akc papers?

Her registered name does not have to be fancy, however, if it is a name that has already been registered, AKC will tack on a Roman numeral. That is what happened to my Teddy's papers. His registered name wasn't unique, so he is the III.

oh ok i see for some reason everytime i ever seen another dogs akc papers there name is really "fancy" lol i just dont want to mess up her name on her papers

When you register your dog you can pick any name you like be it fancy or simple. Because I show I do pick the fancier names but they also have meaning to me. Before I brought Abbie to my home to show her, her breeder asked me to figure out a registered name for her. all I had was her name to go from. Then I sat and thought about how she was neglected in her first home and Cindy was able to get her back. I had my work cut out for me getting her to learn that not all humans were idiots. Anyway a friend had posted an Abba song, so I went to you tube and pulled up the song because I like their music. Well the next song was "Take A Chance on Me " the light bulb literally went off above my head. So I called Cindy and said hey what do you think of Maitai's Take A Chance On Me for her registered name. She loved it because not only were we both taking a chance on Abbie but Cindy was also taking a chance on me . So there you have it.

I used to have a Min Pin and her name was Molly Sue III..now I understand the premise of why she had the roman numerals on the end of her name..lol..Im slow I guess...haha..

I picked Callie's name Callie and then came up with Princess California for her registration. I'm not necessarily a California fan just want something big sounding lol.

That is a great story. I love the name -- so perfect -- and I am an ABBA fan. :)
