Choppa was maybe 5 months when his stood but if u look at him in my Avi his ears are huge and adorable so maybe thata why. Maxximus came to me with his up not sure if on their own or taped. Yorkiemom did give good advice though. I called Choppas breeder then asked vet tgen watched how in yiu tube. The thibg is I didnt have a clue and I askes here and YTers taught me tgat ears fo up ans down during teetibg and told me to try and wait a bit. Also vet taught me to massage behind ears at base during day. Some yorkie ears never go up. Some seem to be born with them up. He is young. Have groomer tip his ears and he should be good |
They're standing up, my question was that the outersides of each ear have a little curve to it is that normal or do I need to tape a triangle on them to set them straight? Im not pulling the ears together where his topknot will be because he holds the completely in the V-shape. I trimmed his ears already. |
It may have been the way they were taped. He is so young they may flop again so now that you know theywthey will definitely stand, if they flop I wouls let them and maybe they will go back uo right. Id just massage hia ears from base to straight up. Maxximus loves the ear massage. I wouldnt tape again. Maybe there was a curve from how tape went around. I had Choppa jacked up the first time I tried. Also some vets will so it for a fee. They told me Choppa had such big ears they probably would stay down but they didnt. I would massage the curved part and wait around. He still has months for them do go up on their own. Not a pro. At all. Just sharing my thoughts. Do lots od searchea specifying age. You will see he is realy in line with lots of babies his age. No one can say for sure if or how they will stand. Yorkies are all so different. |
Alfie's Ears Hi there, my adorable Alfie is ten weeks old too. We got him when he was 6.5 weeks, we are in UK so laws not the same, and his mom was not feeling well so we got him early. Anyway his ears were straight up when we got him (he did not have a single tooth then) since then his left ear drooped, fed him a little natural yoghurt with honey every day (advice here was natural vanilla yog but the nearest I could find was natural yog with Heather honey so I thought this would be a good idea to also help if he got hypoglycaemic) his ear perked right up in about a day and a half, but now his right eat is flopping. Almost a full teeth allocation now and seems to be thriving in every way. He is my gorgeous baby and even if one ear stays up and the other one droops he would still be beautiful. The yoghurt seems to help though. |
There is an enzyme in honey that is dangerous to yorkies so I wouldn't recommend using honey |
Oh, didn't know that, I had already bought some different yoghurt today, do you know what enzyme? Thanks for the heads up |

My vet recommended either honey or Karo syrup. I had honey on hand so I've been using that. Guess I will need to pick up some Karo to have on hand instead. ... or is there any reason I can't just make my own simple syrup? |
