fleas and giving a bath all 3 of the furbutts got fleas this year....They have NEVER had fleas before...I was using essentials oils that helped keeping them flea free...well, my neighbor brought his little guy over here (he ALWAYS has fleas!) and decided to "share" them with mine!!! ARRRRGGGHHH!!! I tried EVERYTHING to get rid of them ....they wouldn't leave...had to cave in and use a topical treatment...I put it on 3 weeks ago and no more fleas...my vet said not to give them baths or it will wash off the treatment...well the furbutts are stinky and are in bad need of baths...they said I could use a soap free shampoo...I have several bottles one of which is tropiclean (conditioner also) they both say they are soap free and won't remove topical flea treatments...any one here ever try this? |
i had this issue as well. be sure to administer the topical for 3 months. that is the cycle to ensure they are no longer living anywhere and hatching in the house. i give mine a bath 5 to 7 days after applying the revolution and to my knowledge it is still affective. hope that helps. it should say on your topical instructions though exactly how long to wait mine says 72 hours i believe. |

i understand lola is the same way and needs a bath at the very least every other week. i call her my lil grease ball! hehe. honest i have given a bath after three to four days and not had an issue. what topical did you use..?? i hate the varmits also!! |
my vet uses parastar...it worked but took like 4 to 5 days before I noticed no fleas. I spoke with them yesterday. They said I could give them a bath then suggested I re apply the parastar...I am NOT a fan of topical flea treatments but, I feel this is the only way I am going to get ahead of the fleas...they told me I didn't need to bomb the house either...they said once the fleas jump on the pups they will die so no need to bomb...we will see...so far so good! |
yes that is best. i know i hate using the topicals too but this summer it was the only way to get rid of the varmits. good luck and i hope you have a really nice flea free weekend. lol |
