Just wondering Hi everyone. I was just wondering if your pups like to use blankets. Now that it is getting a bit colder, do your furbabies get under blankets or try to stay warm? Lexi is almost a year old now and she does not seem to know to get under blankets on the bed. She sleeps on top of the covers. We try to cover her up a bit, but she doesn't seem to really like it. We used to have a min pin and she would burrow all the way to the bottom of the bed, any time of the year. Is this a yorkie thing or is it just my yorkie? |
I think every dog has their preference. Kiko will only stand to be covered up if she is really cold. Otherwise, she prefers to lay on top of the covers. |
Maddie is like Lexi and never wants to be under blankets, but Libby and Faith prefer being covered up. |
Gracie has her own fleece blanket on the bed that she lays in and rolls around in but when she really wants to get warm she asks to get under the blanket with me. Usually in the middle of the night of course. I have an electric throw that she loves but it automatically turns it's self off after 2 hours. Maybe your dog is just warm enough. Some dogs will lay up against you to draw off your body heat when they are cold. |
I have one of each...Jada likes to be on top of her bed with no cover and Bogie has to be snuggled up next to me under the covers(even when it is warm). |
Micah & Yogi love a soft blanket to lay on but not to be over them..they both like laying next to me |
ZoE prefers to lay on top of the blankets....she has to be really cold to want to snuggle under them. I keep my house heating set pretty low in the winter, so I bought her the snoozer cozy cave bed thinking that she would like to snuggle inside it while I was gone at work. She never used it. She prefers a pile of blankets that she can dig around in & make her own bed. |
Allie loves being under the blankies, Luci does as well when she get's cold. Willow does not like to be covered up at all. |
So it sounds as though most yorkies like something nice and soft to lay on or next to, but not necessarily under to stay warm. I thought maybe because she is still young, she had not figured it out. But it appears it is very characteristic of yorkies. Maybe all dogs are different. |
I think our Harry may be slightly mad.... Even in winter, he loves to lay on chilly covers....he's got blankies galore but kind of bunches them up to form a fat pillow - he'd rather lay on cold but have his head on warm  We have a lovely squashy 'Harry cover' on our bed which he arranges a hundred times a day....funny little things aren't they?!!? :D Sally + Harry x |

I notice that Rocco gets really hot and starts panting when he shares a blanket with me. He always fluffs the blanket and sleeps on top. :) |
Couver likes to be under the blankets with me but Khloe prefers to be at the foot of the bed on top of the blankets. I think it all depends on the dog :) |
The only time Joey burries himself is in the towel after a bath to avoid the hair dryer lol |
Callie loves blankets. We cover her up when she is napping around the house and she will pick up her blankets and carry then around and sometimes curl up on them. |
I think it depends on the dog. All of mine get tucked in with their own blanket. Only Gracie sleeps with me in my bed. She lays on top of her blanket, on top of my quilt, if it is warm, and she takes it under my quilt with her, if it is cool. |
Jilly used to love to huddle under a blanket sleeping but Tibbe is hot-natured and doesn't much like being in or under anything but loves lying on top of the warming throw at times. |
Both Brody and Mia will arrange blankets, covers and pillows, and smoosh themselves into/onto the crumpledness. They will both "cave" under the covers with it's cold...and sometimes when it's quite warm, too...but there definitely seems to be something quite "personal" about the conditions under which they do these things, so I think it is THEIR personal preferences that matter. What we do is make little fleece throws and/or afghans available where they spend their time, and let them decide whether or not, and how, to use the blankies. My granddaughter Chi, however, is ONLY out of a blanket to play, eat...and that 'other' thing they do afterward...lol...and you REALLY have to be careful when you sit or lie down on ANY cover because that tiny little 'wrinkle' just MIGHT be her!
