Excited peeing! Every time Amirah sees someone not me she gets really excited and pees right by that person...she is (knock on wood) doing well with potty training, but I always have to take her outside to see people for about two minutes before people can come in my house...and she will even excited pee in her crate on the rare occasion that the maintenance guy comes in my apartment. Will she grow out of this or is there anyway to help her to stop this? |
Audrey does this too! I'm hoping they outgrow it! I try to keep her in a different room when people first come over, until they're not so exciting anymore. |
Max is one year old (this weekend) and he peed all over my friend last weekend. He is totally trained but he LOVES company. I am not too worried yet but I will be in the future. I am interested to read stories of older yorkies. Thanks |
I have been through this. Here is one way to help with it. It works great. It takes some time. When you get home ignore your dog. Walk in slowly and keep it calm. Do not acknowledge the dog. Do not even look at her. Just walk around and do whatever you do. Do not praise her as this will create excitement.If she is loose in the house. When you walk into the house and she runs to you, do not stop and reach down to pet it. Go to the kitchen or bathroom or do something besides greeting her immediately, until it calms down. Advise guests to do the same. Inform your guests ahead of time to please completely ignore the dog. Keep your voice and the guests voice in a calm manner. No baby talk or high excitement voice. A little later, the dog will calm down and you can let your dog come to you. It may take a while but it can be done. You can gradually adjust your actions as you see her confidence building and her mind calming. |
Good luck with some patience she will get better. Also do not yell at her if she does. It would just make it worse. Ignore it, clean it up and go about your business. |
Mandie used to always pee when me or my hubby would bend down to pick her up so we learned to get down on the floor with her at first and motion for her to get in our lap. Then, we stand up with her and she's fine. She still has incidents here and there, but for the most part, the bending down to pick her up or pet her was what triggered it. |
