Greetings from Tennessee~ Newbie Here Good morning. I'm Rebecca and my Yorkie's name is Nanette. She is three and I'm nearly old as the hills! We live in Tennessee. The Fall weather here is wonderful. Wish we could share it. Presently, I am searching for the best kibble For Nanette that I can find, with all organic ingredients, if it can be found. I feel like I'm on a nearly impossible quest! As soon as I think I've found the perfect food, I learn where the ingredients have changed. Perhaps you have been through it, too. Anyway, Wishing You All a Happy & Healthy Fall! Cordially, Rebecca & Nanette |
Welcome to YorkieTalk :D It's great to hear that you are searching for the best kibble for your pup. I have no advice on organic kibble, but I'm sure someone will be able to help you. What are you feeding Nanette now? |
Nanette's Food Hi! Thanks for your interest. We are trying Acana, Fromm, and Organix, currently. Best, Rebecca |
Hi Rebecca and welcome to YT!!! Fellow Tennessean here...East TN. Where is Eads? Good luck on your search for food. Not sure I can recommend organic food. My Jada has allergies and we feed California Natural Sweet Potato and venison after a 2 year search for something that wouldn't make Jada itch or have loose stools. |
Welcome. Can't really comment on the organic food, but also live in the Volunteer State and not too far from you either. (Jada, Eads is great little city just east of Memphis.) |
Hello and welcome to Yorkietalk:) One of my gals has allergies and it has been quite an issue with food. My other gal eats royal canin. Good luck |
There is a wonderful vet out there called Dr. Karen Becker who has a lot of information on the best foods for your dog, should you take the not homemade or raw approach. If you do a search on youtube she has some videos on there. My dogs don't eat kibble but one used to be on orijen red, so I highly recommend orijen. I personally recommend, orijen, acana, go, now, blue buffalo and fromm's. Stay away from anything who's first few ingredients aren't meat, if they say "meat meal" (I won't tell you what that means), if there is part of the food that comes from "meal", make sure it specifies exactly what is belongs to. Avoid, corn or corn byproducts, soy or soy byproducts, wheat or gluten, brown rice, as these are all grains which are harder for a dogs system to digest and often the result of allergies and other auto immune illness in dogs. |
psssst and Hi! welcome to YT |
Love TN. Welcome to YT. I am of no help. I feed Bella Holistic brand kibble. |
Welcome to YT:D Glad to meet you! My two eat Natural Balance, the Limited Ingredient Diets. Anything else makes them itchy or have funny poops. Good luck in your food search:) |
Welcome to YT! I love Tennessee..I used to go there for white water rafting all the time! My aunt lives in Briceville, and my earliest conscious memory in life is going up in the cable car in Gatlinburg. I hope you find Nanette's perfect food soon. We are still searching...we tried Chicken soup, Taste of the Wild, Fromm, Acana, Nature's Variety, and now Canine Caviar. It's been a slow process lol. Hope you have better luck than me. I highly recommend the website dogfoodadvisor.com. |
oh welcome to YT. I grew up in Bristol ..the virginia side ... but still we are like neighbors:D I do a combination of home cooking and fromm. I choose Fromm because of the reviews of how high the quality is and that there has never been a recall (that I could find anyway). I home cook because after finding out about how bad some dog foods were I did not want my guys eatting that!!! I added the "free feed" of fromm to suppliment the home cooking (they do get about 30% of their calories from the kibble. |
Welcome to YT :wavey: |
Welcome to the board! |
I just started Dr. Becker\'s book today! I really think I may wind up making homemade food according to her directions. But, it\'s always good to have a good kibble in case something came up where I couldn\'t make the food. Also, I like for Nanette to have something free-choice to nibble on. The comments have all be very helpful. I am hearing about foods that I didn\'t know existed! |
