Some people I was at a pet supply store a few days back and had Tucker with me. A lady approached me gushing over Tucker. She told me that she used to have a yorkie that looked just like mine but that it was a boy and couldn't be housebroken (couldnt be housebroken because he was a boy???) so she gave him away. She then proceeded to inform me that she purchased a female yorkie and ( suprise!!!!) she had a difficult time potty traing her as well. SO, she gave that dog away too!!!! At this point I informed her that if you read about yorkies, you'll find that housebreaking them can be difficult. I told her that it took me a year and a half to potty train Tucker and if he was not in his crate or in his ex pen, he was attached to my beltloop on his leash walking around the house with me. She just looked at me and said, "Oh, that was a god idea." ugggghhhhh....some people ..... |
They can only housebreak if their trainers teach. It took Giorgi almost 9 months but persistence and the crate paid off. |
It is so sad that people will just get rid of a dog because they are doing something wrong and cant potty train it. People throw dogs out like trash and its terrible. When you get a dog it should be a life time commitment. Callie was trained by the time she was 9 months and wouldn't go in the house now no matter what I even had to take her out in the middle of a hurricane. |
That is a sad woman. Those are the people that should not be allowed to have pets!. . . Just saying |
So many people have no sense of discipline or responsibility these days. They are not responsible enough to raise their own children much less a dog. I worked in a Family Medicine clinic for many years and saw some of the saddest cases of neglect and poor parenting that went through all income levels. It's sad enough to see these people with human children. Pets don't stand a chance. |

We have families on Medicaid, food stamps, no car, no job amd about to be evicted with all sorts of issues with 5 or 6 kids and pregnant with another!!! |
unable to housebreak a dog is one of the main reasons people give dogs away, and sadly it is normally the owners fault |
people like that should not have dogs// i researched yorkies before i got morgan and i knew that it would take time to get him house broken |
poor dogs. Thats sad. Waffles does great. She averages one mishap in the house every 60 days. Im happy with that. And every time its happened its been while playing with kids and the kids dont get her signals. So its a learning curve for waffles and the kids. Id never EVER dream of getting rid of her. Id limit her to the tile if there were daily accidents. |
