I have been trying to get this recorded for some time now.... can anyone tell me why he does this to his food? :eek:

My big dog does this alot and makes a big mess, mostly when he's not hungry, to save it for later:D

He never really makes a mess and the food dont have to be in the bowl if you give it to him he does this, and sometimes he will take a treat and go from one end of the house to the other and do this in each room with the one treat it is hilarious to watch :D

It's so funny I clicked on this link because I was watching Georgie do this earlier. Only difference is my sweet Georgie won't eat out of a bowl so he does it to the clean dish towel we serve his food on:rolleyes: When I say serve I mean serve LOL. He will literally fold up the ends of the dish towel to "bury" his food. He either eats it shortly after or waits a little while.

What a funny boy! It looks like he's trying to save it for later.

He is saying "Mom,Im really not very hungry right now. I'll just cover it and save it for later." Mina does this all of the time. I simply show it to her and say "eat!" or I put it up.

Nala does the same thing!! :) We find hidden food all over the house. When I see her sniffing between the sofa cushions I know she is looking for hidden treasure. I love to watch rub the top of her head to try to cover the food. :D

Hahahahahaha!!! Thank you for this video, I laughed so hard...my Mini does this too but this video is hysterically accurate! Gave me an idea too...maybe I should get a small baby pool and fill it with dirt for her so she can bury her goods???? lol

Hahahaha! That is just like Columbo! Columbo does that with his rawhide chews. He quietly carries them all over the house, from room to room. He doesn't make a sound. We call this being in "Stealth Mode". He'll walk quietly back and forth all over. When he passes the gas fireplace, he'll pause to glance and his reflection (like Phil Collins checking his look), then quietly move on. Finely, he finds a place: a blanket on the floor, a couch cushion, sometimes just a corner of the room on the carpet. Then he "digs" the non-existant hole. Then he puts the bone in the non-existant hole and uses his nose (just like Charlie) to cover the bone up with non-existant dirt. When he's done, he'll look around the room to see if anyone saw his hiding place (EVEN THOUGH ITS VISABLE TO EVERYONE!) and evaluate if he can leave it there or if he needs to move it. You know that commercial for travelers insurance with the dog who buries the bone in the yard and then worries about it the whole time? The theme song is "Trouble, trouble, trouble...worry, worry worry"? We always laugh because that could be Columbo. We don't need TV for entertainment with him in the house.

OMG I ma glad Charlie is not crazy and bobohyde, "Stealth Mode" that describes him exactly LOL. we just watch him in amazement thinking to ourselves WHAT are you doing ????? now we know!!! and this does explain all the treats I find in the couch and recliner I have to go in there several times a week to get them out because he is "burrying" them so deep he cant get them out again.

So if I give him something and he does this does it mean he isnt hungry at that time? it seems like he does it everytime I give him food in the evening. and almost always with a treat.

Mandie does this too. She was just doing it this morning. She does it with her treats too. So cute!
