Disappointed in 1st haircut 1 Attachment(s) Bentley had his first groom yesterday. I had checked with a number of people on where to go and let me say they were so good to him and kind. He got a warm greeting and goodbye, but I just was so sad when I picked him up. I was looking forward to this great puppy cut, one that showed a nice round face with the perky ears. However, I feel like he looks like a schnauzer! Long face with a big beard. Attempting to attach a picture, he's still adorable, but I can't feel let down with what I got. |
He looks so cute! Honestly looks like a puppy cut to me:) I am no expert but I would think a schnauzer cut would be longer on the sides of his beard. I should add even longer then Bentleys. Georgie always gets a puppy cut and if its a little longer then I want I just ask my groomer to trim it a little more. |
The same thing happened to me but the best part is that their hair grows fast. So adorable :) |

He looks very adorable either way :) maybe next time you can bring a picture that represents something more along the lines of what you want specifically. But Bentley's new cut looks great on him! |
Aww, he's such a cutie! :) When I first got Mandie, her original owners had given her a schnauzer cut. Trust me...Bently looks way better. I'm so happy Mandie's hair is growing out now. |
Looks like a puppy cut to me too, he is beautiful..how could you not love him...one thing I want to say is that make sure you keep your own pups features in mind when you decide on a cut...you can cut all the pics in the world out of the cut you want but if your baby doesn't have those features, you will never get it. Your baby is like mine and doesn't have the round babydoll face...so just keep this in mind...!!!! Again, he really does look soooo cuttttteeeeee!:):):) |
I think he looks adorable!!! |
I'm sorry that you didn't get the cut you wanted but he is still so cute! |

It looks like a puppy cut to me... Maybe next time bring some pictures to show what your expectations are. He looks adorable! Remember, it's just hair and it will grow back :) |
I think he looks adorable! Sometimes the 'terms' the groomers use & what the customers describe how they want their dog to be cut gets lost in translation. Usually, round teddy bear face is popular among Shih Tzus. They naturally have a flat round face. If you happen to see a 'teddy bear face' cut that you like/prefer, you can print out the photo & take it w/you next time. It can be from any breed, but a shih tzu sports it best. It also works very well for cottony softer haired yorkies. A silky yorkie's hair gets weighed down when it grows, whereas a cottony soft haired yorkie's hair grows outward, giving a poofy look. So they're able to get the round look much easier. |
He looks very cute. I just cut Copper's hair close to this. We have reports that it is going to be in the 100's next week. I was growing out his hair for winter, but I think we are going to have a hot October, so shaved him with a #2 one more time. If you want his face trimmed more, do it! I trim Copper all the time. Sometimes I get his cut a little more round around the face and sometimes not. I liked the advice of the person who said to take a picture of what you want to the groomer next time. Good advice. Good luck and sorry for rambling on...:) |
These dogs are so cute it is difficult to make them look bad. Your little guy is adorable. Since there is no standard "puppy cut" you really have to be specific when you go to the groomer. It looks like your groomer cut most everything short on your little guy. I think that is what most groomers tend to do. It is easier to just cut everything about the same length than to fuss with trying to get a certain look. I guess you need to look at the dogs of the people who recommend a groomer to you. Do they get their dogs bathed and shaved or do they have a special look? It seems the majority of pet owners only take their dogs to the groomer when they need the bathe and shave done so that is what most groomers are best at doing and they assume that is what most clients want. I understand the rounded look you were looking for but it appears your groomer did not. If you give more specifics next time and still get the same result then I would find a new groomer. The first time I took Gracie to a groomer at about 6 months the lady did a great job. The second time I took her I told the woman specifically what i wanted done. It was not a complicated request. I just did not want her topknot touched, I wanted her feet and body length trimmed up with her face rounded out. When I picked her up they had cut her topknot and did not even bother to even off her length and round up around her face. I had even left the grooming bands and the new bow I had just bought for her! Needless to say we never went back there again. |
Awwww, I think he's adorable. |
