Bully stick recall!!!! Boots and Barkley Bully Sticks Dog Treats Recall September 21, 2012 – Kasel Associated Industries of Denver, CO is voluntarily recalling its Boots and Barkley American Beef Bully Sticks product because it may be contaminated with Salmonella. The event was reported by the FDA in a news release dated September 21, 2012. fyi: "RED BARN" BULLY STICKS ARE NOT ON THE RECALL....AND THEY ARE MADE IN USA! |
I never heard of that particular brand. When I first started buying bully sticks for Gracie I tried a few different brands that we had issues with. You can tell that many of them are not produced properly. I read about the Best Bully brand here on YT. They are much harder and we have never had any problem with them. They are advertised as from animals that are all natural and grass fed. Of course any food product that is produced in an improper or unclean environment is liable to get salmonella. |
The first Bully Sticks I got for my dogs were very hard and lasted for weeks!!! I did not get the brand name on them...these Red Barn Bully Sticks that I have bought recently, just because they do not have a bad smell and are made in USA, are softer and do not last near as long....dont like that....I was drawn to Bully Sticks because of the longevity of them...I will track down these Best Bully sticks you refer to.... |
I just saw them for the first time at Target last week, I noticed the package said "Made in Chinia" and that was enough for me to say, "No Thanks." I've been using the Merrick Brand for over 5 years and I'm very happy with them, but they are expensive. |
Yes, I just read my recall email from The Dog Food Advisor that says these recalled bully sticks are sold at Target. The Red Barn brand was one of the brands that gave Gracie diarrhea. |
So glad I don't give Peanut any of those type chews any longer- My vet had told me those can have bacteria on them!! |
I saw those in Target a few weeks back, and also saw the Made in China thing and was like... no way. I do trust the sticks from BestBullySticks. Never have had issues with those - the Red Barn brand always stunk and never seemed to last long, haven't bought them in over 3 years. |
I saw them and saw they where made in China and I do not buy china made stuff for Callie. I like best bully sticks because they are made in the usa and don't have crap treated on all them. I found red barn was to smelly for us so after the first one I never bought that brand again. |
