is there such an existing color for yorkie called merle hi im new to this site and im still learning i just wanted to ask if merle colored yorkies existed |
Welcome:D!!! I've never heard of that color in Yorkies before. Maybe someone here will know:D |
Merle definitely isn't a standard color for yorkies. If you see a 'merle' yorkie, it is mixed with something else. |

What is merle colored anyway |
Merle isn't a color, it's a gene. It produces the blue in blue heelers and the red in red heelers. It's what produces blue born yorkies. We had a blue chihuahua that was deaf and blind because of his Merle gene. It's not a good thing! |
thanks for explaining that too me I didnt know the blue born yorkies had that gene but now it makes sense. Does it cause health problems in other breeds like it can with the blue born |
This topic has come up on here before and I googled what a Merle was. Like Michelle said it's not a good thing and can cause dogs to be blind and/or deaf. Here is the link for more info. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Merle_(dog_coat) |

they are known to have extreme skin problems. This is the first time I have heard of the blue born yorkies having the merle gene though so now Im skeptical |
