What is a good treat? I want to use treats for potty training and general training, so they need to be tiny or easily broken into small pieces. Anyone have suggestions? |
Our KS does not care for store bought treats. Our favorite treats (all cut/broken up into pea sized pieces): cheese, celery, carrots, bananas, watermelon, cheerios (although she doesn't care for those as much any more), peanut butter/yogurt in her kong. She also love turkey weenies cut into tiny pieces. We take those to class for her. The only store bought treat she will eat, but it's only a one per day dental bone, is the Blue Bones Dental Treats in the Mini size. |
We use Wellness treats and break them into tiny little pieces. They are a soft treat and go really far when you break them up. My two go crazy for them and will do almost anything to get them :) |
Thanks for the suggestions. I hadn't thought about using real food. I'll try that and the wellness treats. |
Tigger is very picky! Like southernbelle04 said, we use cheese and other food cut up into small pieces. But he also LOVES "Real Meat Dog Treats." They have 4 o. bitz which are a perfect size for him. We buy them at an all natural dog food store near us, but here is the link to the website - Real Meat Dog Treats |
Bella loves cheerios................ |
Tibbe gets his regular kibble made into treats by soaking it, microwaving it about 20 minutes until hard, cooling/drying out for a day or so and breaking into small bits. Than I put it in his Treat Jar and anything that comes out of there is super special to him. He loves it just as well as his old treats and it's something that doesn't add extra sugar or bad things to his diet and his sensitive little stomach. Sometimes he will come and spontaneously roll over or sit up, just to get a treat. He loves his homemade treats. I guess it's like having a potato either boiled, baked or french fried - different ways of cooking can change a certain taste and consistency of something quite dramatically. Anyway, he loves his treats to death and when I call him always comes running from outside or another room since he knows sometimes he gets a treat when he does! |

They also love plain boiled chicken breast...they'll do anything for them lolll! |
Sophie Kate was also a big fan of Cheerio's, still is but they were the go to treat for potty training. |
Treats Blue Buffalo Soft Bites, Chicken; and Cloud Star Buddy Biscuits, Chicken. These are small, very soft and moist treats that can be broken up into tiny pieces. Excellent for training as most dogs love them and will do anything for even the smell of them! They are healthy and made in US (as far as I know!). Good Luck with the potty and general training! |
Cheerios, goldfish crackers, shredded cheese, boil chicken, frees dried liver, homemade dehydrated chicken, fruit, veggies, or a different kibble flavor than you normally feed. |
Trixie never wanted any treats, ecept for real pieces of beef, or cheese |

Georgie gets Wellness treats and bits of apple and carrots. He loves the apples and carrots more than his treats. I also saw a recipe on here for yogurt drops. I don't remember all the details but essentially you put little drops of greek yogurt on a baking sheet and freeze. Yogurt is very good for them too! |
