poor thing! (her and you!) When did you get her? Could it be seperation anxiety? Waffles had that when we got her from the shelter. I put her crate right next to my side of the bed and pulled back her cover so she could see me at night. Now she sleeps though night in her crate. She is a cuddeler also always on me. Begs to be picked up. My mom says she acts like a child lol.. Anyway hope she and you get some rest soon!! |

Memory foam does break down over the years. Most have a 10 year guarantee. I don't reccomend the memory foam beds because there are just too many variables and the foam does break down over time. Hope you can find a good one. I think Gracie weighs so little that the memory foam doesn't mean much to her. She claimed the pillow for herself. She wears her flannel or fleece pajamas when it is cooler. (70 degrees F for her) A nice comfy dog bed with a warm blanket on your bed might be helpful if you have the room for it. I have never had to make such changes to my life for a dog before. She is well worth it to me though. She is a huge part of my life and I love her dearly. Her quirky personality just makes life all the more interesting. Terriers are dog's with strong personalities but you have to consider what they were bred for. They are totally loving and loyal dogs no matter how strange some of the personality traits are. I hope you start getting a full nights sleep soon. |

They may have long hair but do not have the insulation that other dogs have. |
Sportschick: I caved and bought a GoPet Treadwheel this morning. They look a oversized hamster wheel for dogs!..LOL...It is expensive, but my little Emy is worth it and so is not going outside this winter here in Colorado, she still needs to run and I''m not going to when it gets below 10 or lower sometimes....what do you do....well hopefully she will get trained to use it and be able to release her energy on it...gopetusa is their site...they sell treadmill and treadwheels, warning they are pricey...but if they last for years I think you could justify it....(and they take credit cards..LOL)...we'll see. I bought a memory foam pad for her crate, got it on Ebay, it is made by Armarkat, you can do a search for it, other places sell them also, like Amazon and Wayfair I think. She peed on it a couple times, then I washed it each time and kept putting it back, now she just seems to fall right asleep at night on it...along with a little blankie...gosh she's spoiled.... |
I will do some research on memory foam toppers. They sell them at Costco which is near me and also at Ocean State Job Lot. I like firm, so I will look for a firm one. I know what you mean about making changes to your life!! Just having to become a morning person was a HUGE change for me. I wouldn't even change my life for my ex-husbands and here I am doing everything for this little creature. And yes, I love her to death also. She makes me laugh every day and I meet so many people during my walks because of her. Yorkiespirit1: I am going to research the treadwheels. Hey, like you said, who wants to go and walk when it is freezing out. Not me or the dog!! I am also going to see about memory foam for her crate, maybe she will be SO comfy that she won't even wake up!! |
Update on not sleeping through the night :)Well, I have figured out how to rectify the problem. CURTAINS. Yes, curtains. I bought thermal, room darkening curtains for my bedroom to keep it warmer and along with me ignoring her or really pushing her away when she starts her gyrations for food in the middle of the night, we have had much better night's sleep. YEAHHHHH. She actually sleeps till around 8:00 a.m. because it is so dark she has no clue what time it is. It all seems to work out and I am finding that there is a solution to every problem with my doggie. I just need to find it. Anyway, thanks for all your advice and listening to me!! |
