He's been throwing up for 2 days now.. help? HI everyone, Davis my 15 month old yorkie has been puking 2 or 3 times a day for the past 2 days or so. He seems fine other than the puking, he's still interested in playing with me and his toys and seemed fine of his walk this morning... my husband seems to think he's just eating to quickly, some of the kibbles dont look like they've been chewed, he's still going #2, but they're about 1/2 the size they usually are. We usually let him free-feed, he never eats all his kibbles at once. I give him 3/4 cup of food in the morning and it lasts him all day. My mom suggested taking the food away and just feeding him a little at a time, he still has access to his water dish at all times. The first time he threw up, I had been doing some training/ tricks with him and was giving him small pieces of cooked turkey breast as a treat. I stopped giving him anything but his kibbles since the first incident (2 nights ago), but he's still throwing up. Anyone have any suggestions? Do I need to take him to the vet? He's still very active.. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Davis and Amanda |
Vomiting for A couple of days isnt normal he really needs to see a vet |
Definitely take him to the vet. He could be getting dehydrated, too -- not good. |
I just called the vet and explained the situation to them. They told me to keep monitoring him and if he hasn't stopped by monday to bring him in. Should i give him some pedeolyte or something? |

A few years back, my dog was vomiting. He seemed fine at first and then started acting really sleepy after a day or two and wasn't as playful. I got worried one night because of the vomiting and all of a sudden tiredness. It was three in the morning and I couldn't sleep because I was worried about my dog. So I got on the computer and went to one of those sites where you pay a small fee and get a professionals opinion. Well after explaining to the guy my problem, he told me I needed to get to the store asap and get some pedialyte. That it sounded like my dog was dehydrated and little dogs like him can go down hill quickly when dehydrated. So at 3 something in the morning I went to Walgreens and bought some pedialyte and started giving it to him with a syringe. A few hours later in late morning the vomiting stopped and he was back to normal. I am glad I contacted that guy. He was right. Yours could be just over eating or something very minor. I just wanted to share my story so you seen where I was coming from on my earlier post. I hope your babies tummy gets better soon!! :) |
Yes use pedialyte. I used it last time Mikki was sick. Please please watch your baby. The last time Mikki got sick she was partially dehydrated within 24 hours. They were going to have to do IV fluids on her. He had me force fluids every hour with her to keep her hydrated. So please watch your baby. They dehydrate so fast. I hope your baby is better soon. Keep us updated. |
If this were an issue that was long standing I guess i would not be too concerned if it had already been well checked out by a reputable vet. However, since this is a fairly new thing for your little fella I would advise a visit to the vet. There is a reason for him not digesting his food and I doubt that it is because he is eating too fast since he is free fed and it has not been a problem before this. Many times a dog will be able to compensate at first when an issue first starts but if it continues the body starts to decompensate and then it can become serious. I hope this gets resolved soon. |
Last time I had a puppy do that he had parvo and did not make it. Im not trying to scare you but realize everyone's experiences may help. I wouls get him to the vet, it Romeo ate and played up until it was tok late to save him. At that point he only threw up foam. You definitely want to have your baby seen before its critical. Praying for swift healing for your baby. Its always so scary when they are sick. Are the ears, nose or tummy hot? Feverish? |
I definitely think he needs some pedialyte. Get him into the vet on Monday if he doesn't improve... He could be really sick :( |
how is your little guy doing, please post an update |
