bummed.. Just thought I'd share because I knew you guys would get it.. I was supposed to pick up my baby Zoey today. The breeder emailed late last nite to tell me it's a no go. Apparently all the puppies have runny stools and are now on probotics.. UGH! I want what's best for her but we were too excited to get her today.. now the wait til she's better and then trying to coordinate schedules so we can meet to get her . Just bummed |
I am sorry this has happened and you have to wait longer. You will have a lifetime with your new baby and when the time comes to get her you wont even think about having to wait you will be super excited |

Aw I am sorry. I know how you feel. I am waiting to bring Julia Rose home too. It is good that the breeder said No. Extra time with the Mama dog won't hurt the pup at all. I am not giving a medical reason this happened. Medical stuff is not my area of expertise :) But just want to mention a few things, Cocsidious can lay dormant then flair up when puppies are weaned, or get stressed. It is treatable and requires medication. IMO it is better for the pup to stay with the Mama dog if this is the problem. Going to a new home is always stressful. Doggy flu, and many other minor things can cause runny poop. Be glad that your breeder is working with her Vet to get the puppies healthy before they go to new homes. |

Im sorry you have to wait. Ive been in hour poaition amd can tell you that it was a blessinv this happened before you brought your baby home. Praying all babies tummies feel better really fast. |

Thanks guys.. The kids aren't as understanding.. lol. All they know is that we said we were going to pick up Miss Zoey today and now we aren't.. ugh. I hope she's feeling better fast- in the end, she's such a tiny muffin that I'm thankful (like some of you said) that it happened there rather than at home. I'd rather her come 100% healthy but awww I want my baby.. lol! :) I'm over my pout now but you guys are right! I did find a good breeder ! I'm glad she's looking out for my baby. |
As has been stated the breeder is doing the right thing. I would ask the breeder what was the cause of the diarrhea. Like was the pup checked for Giardia? Probiotics are fine when diarrhea is caused by a diet change but if they have another issue it needs to be checked out. You sure don't want to bring home a sick pup. Some Yorkies are notorious for being picky eaters even though they are healthy. You would not want to be faced with a sick homesick puppy that won't eat. I would be disappointed, too, though. I can imagine how the kids feel. Just tell them they would not want to be cleaning up diarrhea all over the place! It might give them a more visual understand of the problem! |
She stated that a couple of days ago she put the pups outside for the day w/ some soaked food not realizing it was supposed to get so warm. Thursday they got runny stools. She had the vet check it Friday morning and it was negative for anything else like parasites. Vet prescribed probiotics for 3days .. That's all I know.. So I am assuming the soaked food got too warm or they didn't eat it right away? I'm not really sure? All 4 littermates have runny stools though. She did say they seemed to be getting better today but not 100%. |

I have to add my two cents though. Leaving puppies outside unattended in any weather is not a good idea. Bugs can get in the food, heat or cold related issues are just a couple of possibilities. Small breed puppies in particular are more susceptible to possible problems. |
