XS Puppia Harness for 12 wo yorkie? Hi all - We'll be picking up a 12 wo yorkie in a few weeks and I was looking at the harnesses available to use. He's 2.5 lbs at 10 weeks -- do you think the XS Puppia harness would work for him in a couple of weeks? Does anyone here use this harness? : PuppiaUS.com : Or do you have a better recommendation for the little guy? Thanks.:) |
Bumping this up for you. Hope someone can answer as I will likely be having the same question soon. |
Thanks for the bump! Trying again to see if some of the veterans on this forum can provide any insights... |
Maxximus was 2.7 pounds yesterday and the harness I alreadybhad was Simply Dog XS velcro vest harness. I put it on him and figured I would just act natural and turn away amd walk I looked back aftet avfew steps and the harness was trailing me and Maxximus was sitting quierly wiyh yhe head turned look as if to say You??? Are gonna walk Meee? Lol. You will need XXS. Walmart $4.97 |
Yes, I have the extra small harness and it fit my little guy at 3.5 lbs. you can adjust the harness where it hooks together. You cannot adjust the neck. It fit him just right. Very soft and looks very comfortable, just a little difficult getting his head in the head opening. |
I don't know about the Puppia size, but with him being so small... it would almost be better to check out your local Wal-Mart or Target to find something. That way, you can return it if it's too big. Also, if he hasn't had all of his shots, it's not good to take him on walks anyways. |
Puppia has at lest two different harnesses. The step in vest harness is best for puppies. The XS is very small. I got one for Gracie when she was about 2lbs and it was just too tight and would not have fit very long. I sent it back and got the small and although it seemed a bit big it is very adjustable and can be wrapped tightly with the velcro before snapping the top latch. It is very important to get the velcro nice and snug so the pup cannot wiggle out of it. Never leave a pup unattended in a harness either. |
I bought a ferret harness for Abby when I first got her since the XS was still a little too big. |

When we first got Mochi she was a little under 3lbs and 14wks. I hand carried her home because we found her the same day we brought her home and we where not prepared but the next day i went to prepared and got her an XS kurgo harness, and it fit nice and snug, its also fully adjustable so now that shes 6lbs she still fits it with quite a bit of room to grow! its really sturdy and comfy. Its the only harness shes excited to get into. I can see it lasting her entire life It comes with a heavy duty clip that attaches her to the seat belt and still gives her room to move around a bit. P-Nut and I looooove Puppia step in harnesses, especially the sport. He's 10lbs and wears a medium, but it's a different harness than you're showing. I highly recommend the step ins, they're great and the Puppias are good quality! Congrats on your new baby! |
I bought my girl this harness in XS shortly after we brought her home: ![]() ![]() |

I personally don't like the "step-in" puppia, as ZoE has slipped out of it & we live on a main road. The kind you show that goes over the head, we have never had an escape issue with. |
Shelby has Puppia Shelby has the Puppia harness.... I love it... She has never slipped out of it... Yes, the neck is snug going over the head but just fine once it is on... It's a small inconvenience to fix top knot/ pony tail...But so worth it for her safety...We have the XS.... She weighs 4 lbs 10oz...on a good day...lol.. Trying to post pics from phone and not working... Will post from comp. |
