Thinking of Adopting this little guy...Good idea? Petfinder Adoptable Dog | Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie | Tacoma, WA | Aspen (very tiny teacup!) They call him a T-Cup but I know that means runt. Do these pups usually have significantly more health problems? Thanks! |
I think he is adorable! |
I'm taken back by the description as a whole...odd to me that this rescue uses all the NO NO terms...etc., however, they are a rescue that rescues without bias, that is all breeds! Perhaps, they are not as well educated on the NO NO terms etc., since they only care to rescue and place in good homes, I think this is one time it can be overlooked! In other words, hes a cutie!!! Go get em girl! |
Teacup is a term used by (not so good) breeders to attract buyers. I couldn't find the site I was looking for but here is an explanation Teacup Yorkshire Terrier For Sale - Beware. Coronado Yorkies,* Yorkshire Terrier Florida, FL Since it is on petfinder, I am not sure. I thought that petfinder was an adoption agency but I feel like the wording of that description is a bit weird. That puppy is sooo adorable though and I could be completely wrong. There are a few YTers who rescue Yorkies. Hopefully someone will give them a reference. Here is a site I found if you are interested. YTCA RESCUE, INC |
If he's got the problems many of the itty bitty ones have, either now or later, just set aside a lot of money and time for trips to the vet and long nights. My tiny Jilly would jump off the couch or bed rather than use her doggie steps and it often meant injury. I had to lift her up many places she wanted to get as she couldn't jump up - or down. She had many GI, malabsorption and arthritis problems associated with her size(due to constant hard jumping up and down to access places she wanted to be rather than just a hop up) and it meant much misery, vet trips and all kind of worries. There were other things I won't mention here that were size related that made her life much less than it could have been had she been a normal-sized Yorkie. I adored her and she was my princess but I would have given ANYTHING if she'd been say 6 or 7 lbs. or larger as the vets all said most of her problems were due to her tiny size. I would never buy a dog, however, from anybody but a reputable breeder I know and who knows me, who only breeds to improve the breed, tests the breeders for genetic and other health issues and would only buy a dog I've actually met. That's one way to be absolutely certain you are not rewarding a dog broker or some such other shameful practice. |
Oh my gosh, CUTE. Seriously just cute. |
I think he is so adorable. I think it is great you want to rescue this little puppy and give him a home. Welcome to YT you will find a lot of good information on the forms about taking care of the puppy. |
Cute! |
IMO it's a rescue. Maybe the person describing him doesn't know much?? Uses the word teacup to help promote the pup? But by saying it may get ~ 5lbs makes me thing the pup will be at a decent size?? And by rescuing the pup you are saving a life. But if you want it better hurry it may go fast?? I tried to rescue a pup and every time i went to go get or look at it .They were gone. I still had certain requirements or wants. After a few mo I just bought what I wanted. |
He's adorable. I see him everytime I look up yorkies in my area. They are a rescue, so I doubt they know that 'teacup' isn't an appropriate term. |
Very cute! Bear in mind, however, there's no size guaranty here. The listing is just guessing at size. Pugs are larger and heavier than Yorkies. That mix may yield more of a "teapot." You can take the puppy, but take the description with a grain of salt. Good luck! |

What a doll! |
He is so sweet...i hope he gets a loving home |
Please be VERY careful....a lot of pets on "Petfinder" are scams. I know because I was the sad person who fell for it. They get you interested and then want monies up-front for transportation. This is when I knew it was a scam. Double check every detail.....Plus 2 ads texted me, seemed odd the responses so I asked a really off the wall question and got the same response...all computer programmed. Good Luck in your search........... |
