Various Hi, first ?...my morkie pulls and bites leash constantly when we walk. And he is like a crazy man spinning in all, directions on all of our walks. He is 4 months old. I have tried a no pull harness and the bad behaviors don't change. Any suggestions? Also, he shows agression at times. Will that change for the better once he is neutered? We have been to puppy classes, but these issues weren't really addressed. Hoping I don't need to hire a behavioral trainer. Thanks for your help. |
bumping this for you! |
Most pups at that age are very stubborn and hate the leash. You pretty much have to work on it and at first a bit of a tug on the leash just may be your only sulution to get them moving. It's best to have consistence behavior training every day in order to get him to do what you want not the other way around. When I trained mine to walk on a leash I just did several trips around my yard a couple of times a week. Making sure to use command works and treating them for a job well done. Cheerios work well for this or even just an "adda boy" or both. Positive reinforcements and consistency is the key to any well behavior dog. They soon got the hint of what was expected of them. If you have difficult getting him use to the harness & leash try Leash/ Umbilical cord training in your home. It help with any potty issues you may be having too. |
Lead with treats. Consult your previous trainer again, leash walking should be a huge part of puppy classes. Consistancy and routine will significantly help over time. |
Use positive reinforcement... Treats and praise for good behavior. He doesn't know what's expected of him, so you need to teach him :) |
