Hello, i am new! hello all, i am new on this forum. I have 2 yorkie pups a little called Mouche and a boy called Leo. My partner and i gor litter mates because noone told us we shouldnt. Its a lot of hard work, the littleboy has bonded to my partner and the little girl to me. any advice is welcome. How do we keep them from bonding too much to eachother while we are at work for 9 hours a day??:animal36 |
Sorry I can't offer advice, as I've never had two yorkies at the same time, but I want to welcome you to YT :) |
First welcome to Yorkietalk! I am not clear on what you are asking. You want to know how to keep your two pups from bonding too much? I'm not sure I understand unless you are talking about mating? Maybe someone else on here will be able to help you. |
Welcome to YorkieTalk! Why would you not want them to bond when your at work? How old are they? Be careful to get your female fixed before she goes into heat so they do not mate. |
Welcome to Yorkie Talk. Congratulations on your new pups. Bonding to each other is good, but as Taylor noted above, you don't want them to mate. Maybe a breeder here can weigh in, but it might be best to separate them until they are neutered and spayed to avoid the risk. |
:welcome4: to YT! Princess & Turbo are litter mates & they both got spayed & neutered @ almost 7 months old. They also got their retained baby teeth removed @ the same time. If you're referring to them 'bonding' as in mating, please get them spayed & neutered to avoid any unwanted pregnancies. But if you're referring to them bonding together & afraid that they will not bond w/ea of you, no worries! They will adore you & your partner even if you are gone for a min. |
I don't have any advice to offer, but I did want to say hello and welcome to YT! You will find this site very helpful and the folks here very knowledgeable. |
canine bonding as apposed to mating I was refering to canine bonding as their primary bond instead of human i.e. Me as their primary bond. We were told by a vet that we are terrible people that we got litter mates as we will never be able to train them together! As for mating, that is a given they will both be fixed at 6 months. I am very in love with my babies! :animal36 |

As long as you show them you are the alpha, they will respect that. They might have the occasional sibling rivalry, but it will pass when they get older. |

Sorry to interupt your question! But I'm also new and for the life of me cannot figure out how to post my own questions?! Someone please help!!:o |
just found this: Raising Siblings Hmm very interesting, I'm reading it for the 1st time...I understand the separation anxiety, fighting & agree w/training them separately, but single dogs also experience separation anxiety... |
