Change Of Character Hi my Sophie is almost 5 months and had her frist grooming session two days ago. After her hr 1/2 she looks great, however it took her a full day 1/2 to come back to herself. At frist she acted like a different dog wanting nothing to do with our daily fun time. All the commands she learned she acted like she forgot it all, she still wont sit when I give her the command . She started to relieve herself where she knows not to. She acted like she is scared of me. Today she showed signs of coming back into her playful fun time and I'm hoping it will get better today. Has anyone had this experience? I was feeling really bad for her not being her happy self during this time. |
I'd be a bit concerned about what happened at the groomers the other day, if it were me. The reason I say that is bc I took Wylie to the groomers about 3x in his early life -- and after that never, ever again. He was absolutely traumatized by the groomers; to this day, 8 yrs later, he is still traumatized when we cut his claws :(. We later got Marcel and Pfeiffer and they've never been to a groomers, and never will go. We do all our grooming at home. We're not great at it, but it works; me and hubs just couldn't deal with leaving our pups w/ groomers. Did you check her body all over for anything funny? Is anything sore? Is she doing better today? |

oh poor thing, maybe she was a little traumitized by the grooming visit. not implying they mistreated her of course but from experience with my oscar i know that he gets very nervous at the vet and he is a little cautious of strangers... maybe the same happened with your little one. once she gets used to going she will be fine i think |
Callie would act different after every time she would get groomed and be really tired and act mad at me but it really bothered me. I think it really tires them out and makes them nervous. Callie really loves my vet so when they got a groomer I started taking her there and she has yet to act different after getting groomed now. I would stay and watch and see how they handle her and make sure that shes not being mistreated because sadly many groomers will mistreat your dog. |
