Who doesn't trim ears? When I first got Tink, I thought I would keep her trimmed short all over. But I have fallen in love with her hair! The only parts I trim are her privates area and that hair that grows sideways across her eyes. I LOVE the long hair on her ears!!! Her hears stand up nice and pretty:) I have noticed that a lot of people trim or shave that hair. So, I'm just wondering how many people like the ears long like me:) |
I toyed with trimming Jaeger's ears when he was younger, but I never did. I like them long, but then again, he has giant bat ears, so it may be different. |
I have always cut Rosie's hair on her ears. But I have stopped. They are slowly growing out. :) |
My boy,Reno is kept in long coat, so I prefer to trim and shave the top 1/3 of the ear hair, as you would for Yorkies being shown. Ruby has bigger ears, if I leave a little more ear fringe, they appear smaller and more balanced with her petite face, I still trim the tips though. Razz ( for now) and Jack have long puppy cuts and I prefer trimmed ears with that style. Traditionalists would say the top 1/3 of the ear hair should be shaved. It gives the yorkie a more alert (perky) appearance and keeps the ears standing nicely. But, I do think some Yorkies look very cute with all of their ear hair kept longer. |
I like Mina's face and ears long. I love the hair on her ears. Her topknot is long enough to braid, not thick enough to french braid yet,but maybe soon. |
Glad there's more like me! LOL I have been surprised how easy it is to keep up with Tink's long hair. She gets brushed daily and bathed once a week and her hair stays in great shape! She's really good for her brushing but wiggles like crazy when I put her top knot in! There's no way I could braid it!! LOLOL But, that is a great idea! |
I let Ziva's ears grow in last winter. They have such heavy hair they started to droop! I had to trim off enough that they stood up again. Abby has fine enough hair on her ears that I don't think that will be a problem, but it does seem to get kind of stringy looking by the end of the week. Maybe our hot weather doesn't help? |
I am a traditionalist and have always given my yorkies the show type ear cut, Lola even though she is a mix has good ears so I do the same with her. However I can not believe I am saying this but I have grown to love the look of yorkies with the long grown our ears. They almost look like butterflies or papillons and that can be a very pretty look, to see a nice example check out the video section and look for some of the Dexter videos he and Peppermint have long ears |
I have had long haired dogs for as long as I have been old enough to buy one because I love the long hair. Yes, it takes some grooming to keep it looking nice but honestly running a comb through Gracie's hair once or twice a day keeps her mat free and looking good. She gets a bath once a week. I had a beautiful little Maltese when my kids were young and was still able to keep her looking good in her long coat. The Maltese coat is requires a lot more work than Gracie's silky coat has. It only takes 10 minutes a day to comb and maybe 30 minutes once a week for a bath. These dogs have long coats and they are beautiful. If I wanted a short haired dog I would have gotten one. |
I love Kayla's long hair. She looks like she has 2 long pony tails. Her ear hair hangs down to her jaw line and I love it. I am going to let my boy's hair grow long too. |
