I think im going to cry. Im going to get her now :( |
Ut oh. Hair grows back. |
oh boy...why dont ppl listen?! |
You dont want a visor thats when they cut the topnot. I wish more groomers knew how to cut yorkies. My groomer has cut alot of yorkies and you have to insist she cut off the topnot. She thinks yorkies especially girls look better with the topknot. The hair will grow back and quickly too |
I'm sure your baby will look adorable either way, but it does make me crazy when they don't listen to what we want. Post pictures when you get home! I'm not sure what a "visor cut" is but sounds like it's not something I want either. :( |
When we cute Presley hair shorter, he was pissed!! Everytime I tried to take his picture he would just turn his head and hang it down low. |
that's a shame, I hope it is not as bad as you imagine. what I don't understand though is why you guys don't google yorkie images and then find a dog with a cut you like and take it with you. I think groomers don't know how to cut yorkies because so many people want a different look, unless of course you have a show dog cut. It's like with the ears, I like a really sharp edge on the outer ear with a shaved front and partial shaved back, however a lot of people i know now like the ears long. I have the best groomer, she is just an independent shop owner, I take Lola there at the end of her day and sit there the whole time she cuts her. I bathe her at home so I don't have to be there as long. LOL I approve just about every cut she makes, LOL yes I am a crazy yorkie mix mom. Not all groomers will let you do that but often an independent one will or a mobile one that comes to your home. |
I have seen a cut where they cut a "visor" (a narrow strip of hair) just behind the eyes and leave the rest of the top knot long. Maybe this is what the groomer did. The "visor" supposedly helps 'hold back' the longer hair behind it when the longer top knot hair is not banded. Brody's hair had been cut in a sort of "visor" cut, but his hair is very fine and silky and without enough 'body' to do that so the "visor" just flopped down over his eyes, too. lol I have talked to others who do cut the "visor" AND have a long top knot too and it works for them. With Brody, I saw what was happening and grew out the whole top knot, but had no difficulty getting Brody's groomer to understand what I wanted. For sure, it will grow back and you can choose another style if you want. :D |
I hope you post pics, I bet she will be gorgeous with any kind of cut, plus know that the hair will grow back. |
Aww..I'm sorry! That's so frustrating! One time my Holly and I were trying out a new groomer. I brought a picture of the desired look and described what I wanted. It was just to be cleaned up a little. When I picked her up she was shaved. As in her hair wasn't even an inch long. It was terrible. I mean of course she was adorable as always but it wasn't what I wanted at all. Needless to say, I did not go back. |
A visor cut is when they comb the front hair down like bangs and then cut the hair short like bangs. Personally, I think it looks horrid and the owner has to continually have the bangs trimmed to keep the hair out of the eyes. If I were going to a new groomer I would stand there and make sure they did exactly what I wanted. There are no requirements to be an animal groomer and many of them only do the few hair cuts that they know. Beware of the "visor" cut and beware of groomers in general. Never leave you pet with a groomer you do not know or do not trust. |

To me, taking your dog to the groomer is just like taking yourself to your hairdresser/stylist. You have to be extremely clear & specific about what you want. Exact lengths & details should be given, and nothing beats showing a picture that clearly shows the look you are aiming for. I've been burned in the hair department before and now won't allow anyone near me with scissors unless they have a clear understanding and can describe back to me exactly what it is I want done. To the OP...I hope Cocoa looks as you wanted her to look. If not, the hair will grow back and next time you go to the groomer take pictures of exactly what you want. |
IMO doesn't matter is she look pretty with or without. You a customer and they cut it off after you asked them not to. I would let them and the manager know and never go back. Some places don't care. If all I could find is a bunch of butchers I would learn to cut the hair myself. But I have the best groomer. JMO |
