How do you do it? Okay ladies and gents, I have a question! How do you keep from buying things for your fur babies? Maybe it's because I am new and am excited about bringing home a new puppy in November, but it seems like everything I come across especially here on YT is just so cute and I just can't pass it up! Am I the only person with this developing "addiction":D? |
If someone can tell me how NOT to buy, I need to know your secret..I have had Jada and Bogie for 3 years and I get worse instead of better:D |

I think you are asking the wrong crowd these questions! ROFLMAO I cannot answer your question...it'd be 'the blind leading the blind'...or rather 'the addicted answering the addicted' ! :p:D Oh, and congrats on getting your new baby in November. Can't wait to see pix! |
It's a time related issue, you have 3 years, 5 months and 4 days to go. |
Its new puppyittis. I bought alot for mine when they were younger. Now I just buy at Christmas and when I need something like a harness |
Oh no, I can see that I am really going to be in trouble lol if you "seasoned Yorkie moms" can't help but buy cute stuff then there is no hope whatsoever for us newbies! Ok mainly no hope for me:rolleyes::D |
Most of what I spend my money on is Callie so I have not learned how not to :) |
Congratulations! But absolutely no help whatsoever here, lol! (I need a bigger house, lol) |

Oh my goodness! I wish I knew the secret to this question. I buy more for my pups than I do myself. I just got 4 new dresses from Aymee!!!:eek: And I just ordered a new cloud 9 recently, IV San Bernard shampoo and conditioner, choke free harnesses, toys, and on and on and on!!! I have a serious problem so I will be no help to you. :p |

Aymee is a doll but I think I am going to be handing her a lot of my money:eek:.... I love the little tutu outfits she just made for you. What type of shampoo and conditioner do you recommend? That's one thing I havent looked into yet... |
I had to force myself to stick to a tight buying budget! Especially at first, when Chloe was new and "needed" everything! :) I set myself an allowance each month to spend on her. If I wanted something more expensive, then I had to save several months' worth of allotments until I could afford it. It definitely helped me not to go overboard but still allowed me to buy for her! Good luck! -C |

I would say these are my top two. Yorkie Splash and Yorkie Shine | Yorkie Shampoo and Yorkie Conditioner I use the Shampoo and conditioner, and the detangler from here. And Iv San Bernard USA For my long haired Yorkie I like the Black Passion line. Black Passion For my mid length hair yorkie I like the apple line. Pet Shampoo And the PEK Conditioner is fabulous!!! IV SAN BERNARD PEK CONDITIONER My personal preference. :) There are lots more out there!!!! |
Oh, and a MUST have is a cloud 9 bed!!!! Cloud Nine Beds*::*Bedding*::*Yorkie Haven Rescue Boutique We have three!!!!:eek::eek: |
And how could I forget a Madan Brush and Comb!!!! toplinepet.com toplinepet.com See what I mean. I am a bad influence!! :) |
I consider this situation much like when a person has a first born child. Get the big things that hopefully they will not out grow. Like beds and car seats, some bows and grooming bands. Don't forget the proper metal combs and pin brush. A nice puppy playpen seems to be a must as well as pee pads and a holder. A few little outfits. Remember that tiny puppy is going to grow rather quickly and much of the clothing will not fit for very long. I have seen so many items for sale that people did not realize their pup would out grow. Pet purses especially. Try to wait and see what size you puppy will actually be before you put out too much money. |

I am no help with this. I usually order chews and a few other thing EVERY month and then there is the sewing addiction making things for Mina to wear and the hairbow addiction making bows to match the outfits. Oh and I have to walk through Ross,Petsmart,Petco and TJMAXX every month to see what is new. |
All I can say is "prepare to be broke for the first year" theres so many things that your baby just must have. They will choose what they like best anyway, some shampoos are better on certain hair- some brushes brush better, some clippers are better than others ,some clothes fit better than others, and when it comes to beds well my boy has 2 downstairs- one upstairs -three at work and a cushion for outside. A car seat in my car and a pillow in DHs car + a toy box full. I nearly forgot all the different kibble I tried to get him to eat. Spoil them rotten they love it.;) |
Thank you everyone for giving me a "heads up" on things headed my way lol. I spoil my skin kids and so does everyone connected to me, so I really don't see it being any different for my fur baby. I am constantly giving away clothes and shoes that my two year old is not wearing or has outgrown. When I had to clean out his nursery to make room for his "big boy" things I gave away bags of things many of them with the tag still on them:rolleyes:. Retail Thearpy just seems to work for me:D |
