I see your point but I dont see what a dog on the patio outside is imposing on anyone. My dogs leashes were tied to the table leg and they quietly sat there while we ate. All the time we have been there we have never seen a dog make a scene. If its because of allergies your out inthye fresh air so it seems it wouldnt be a problem

I was working front gate security at two event she came to.

Her big argument was no one was alergic to ger snake and it had hust been fed so it was totally safe...it was friendly.

I said I was alergic to her snake and she should shoo...both times she got in anyways, but she avoided me so I was happy.

I totally agree.

I've been booted from places before too though.

I was super ticked when the photo place at the mall advertised the take your pets pic with Santa and then mall security literally escorted people to Santa and to the door.

Its really to me all about how people inform you you can't have your dog.

Wow that would tick me off too. Yea they can let you know you cant bring them in without being crappy about it. Just show a little kindness even though you have to tell them there dogs not allowed in

It was ridiculous!

It was busy so manu people brought their kids and pets so there was a 10-20groutless minute line wait after pics get your photos printed.

Security wanted ppl to go to tgeir cars with their pets then come back for pics.

I was like no we're here in line I'm holding my dog then we're going directly to the door to leave.

One security clown tried to get everyone to leave in a group he'd escort...it didn't work out too well for him.

I can hardly believe they would go to the trouble! It's almost funny when you think about it. Might as well make a similar set up on the other side of the store front with a second sign saying they love kids and line up a bunch of little kids' chairs and a cookie jar!

I reread it again on animal law.com

In 2008 it was supposed to ve required and did not pass.

So yep anyone can just say they have a service dog and that's that apparebtly they only recomend you get the tags and patch.

So...the manager at my local target is a big fibber!

Interesting that anyone could just lie and call their dog a service dog for their disability and walk right into any establishment with them! I didn't know the animal didn't have to have some type of identifying badge or vest or anything until I read that link! Stil, I don't imagine too many cheat on this surely. On the other hand, the disabled have enough trouble getting about and going out without having to remember to have the dog "up to code" so to speak, too, I'm sure.

I didnt know the service dogs didnt have to wear a vest with a patch on it. Every time I have seen one they have had it on. It seems like it would save hastles and confusion if they did

Yeah, they don't have to wear the vest, but I agree it saves hassles if they're readily identifiable.

Lying about having a service dog to be able to skirt around the laws is just wrong.

In a bag or not, some people are still allergic. My son can't even be in the same house as a cat, even when said cat is in another room.

Don't mistake your selfishness for something else. You knew you weren't supposed to take the dog in, you did it anyway and your mad that you got caught.

Your dog will be okay for a few hours while you grocery shop.

And a service dog has been trained specifically for it's job. A letter from a dr saying you need the dog for your well being isn't the same as a certified therapy/service dog.

Aside from it being wrong to lie about it, I'd be afraid if I did, I might not have to lie about it one day before too long. :eek:Who in the world would lie about being disabled really, when you think of it, just to get their dog in a business? Disability is nothing to treat so cavalierly for those in the midst of living it.

Man some security dudes are just plain crazy! It's like they wanna be cops so bad but didn't pass the test.

I saw a lady with a pom in a store once and had a vest/patch on. I walked by them and oohed and ahhed and the pom lunged and tried to bite me! I wonder what kind of training this dog had! Maybe he was a phony.

I hope this highlighted sentence doesn't apply to me.

My mental health condition is NOT about "well-being." It's more valid than that.

I'm not going to go into details of my condition. I just hope you and your family will never have to face any mental health condition to realize how dismissive and non-acknowledging your post is.

There is only one place I can get away with bringing to. A thrift store in my neighbor hood. As long as he's in the cart, they don't care. Only that one. The other thrift stores in the area wont allow it.

We really don't have a place for this type of posting on YorkieTalk. People express opinions and advice without name-calling usually. You might not know what any member is also going through or dealing with at the time of a post you don't agree with but sometimes they are going through terrible times themselves and a post comes out harsh or severe. But resorting to such tactics as to use elementary school type names are beneath us. Come on, we're better than that! :)

Hmm interesting I was just thinking say someone has anxiety and get a Drs note...they pack their dog everywhere and everywhere they run into adverse reactions...isnt that counter productive and wouldbt it just cause more anxiety?

From what I understand, those with SAD and a dog can manage to deal with those stresses because of the dog's presence, though sometimes the animal itself creates some of the stressors. I think having that dog along is what allows them to even step out the front door often and then deal better with stress as it might come. Just having that 4-legged friend beside them can make all the difference.

It comes down to the individual person and what their doctor thinks is best for them. My bf doesn't want to take the dogs to the farmer's market anymore even though many people bring theirs and in fact is encouraged, bc he feels it attracts too much attention, and I agree with him. He doesn't like to make small talk with strangers, I don't like to entertain talking to kids, so we both agreed to leave the dogs at home when we go. For us it brings more stress LOL

I agree that there is NO place on YT for such comments. Name calling and personal attacks are against the rule of YT. You need to go back and reread the rules that you agreed to. Sometimes it is best to step away from the key board and cool down before you respond.

You have no idea who you are talking to when you speak like this. No Michele is not a jerk,she is a kind person that will go out of her way to help someone in need. She also speaks as she sees it.

Ohmygosh, it is the same with Tibbe. If I am going out, he has to go outside first, then get his harness, leash on and gets so excited as I'm getting water and this and that together plus his carrier and such and then getting it all in the truck and buckled in and him settled. I'm worn out by the time I get ready to back out the drive way! And Tibbe attracts so much attention wherever he goes, kids and all just flock to him, people want to hold him, people grab for him and he just lights up and encourages them and they coo and carry on and more people come over and it gets to be a hassle so I just don't take him with me as much as I used to. Plus, more and more stores are not welcoming dogs due to the big, scary ones that people want to bring in so sadly Tibbe has to stay home a lot. But he had fun out at Walgreen's today as I just grabbed him up and went, not many were there except two ladies - one with two male Yorkies at home and we talked a bit. He does so enjoy greeting folks! He had a ball being fawned over by the ladies.

Yup Uni loves the attention. Me not so much. I like to be able to take Uni out bc she has fun being out and about. But she is so loud! She does attract a lot of attention. Scraps on the other hand, doesn't really like kids. He says they are too loud and obnoxious. :eek:

Reminds me, two weeks ago we had the dogs at the farmers market. I was in line with Scraps to order some tamales. These two little girls came up to us. The girls were adorable, but kept going on and on with the questions! Bf and Uni were coming up to me, but then saw the girls and I see him to a u turn and leave LOL I just said Ok I gotta go now and I didn't even order my food.
