Help! I'm not sure how to proceed. I have two precious Yorkies that I recently acquired to keep our other little dog company. They're not getting along and I'm afraid he'll hurt them. So I need to find the Yorkies a good home. They've been together all of their lives and I would hate to separate them. They are AKC registered as pure breds. I have all of their papers and vet records. The female is neutered but not the male. They're a little over two yrs old. The male weighs 6.5 lbs and the female weighs 5.2 lbs. Last week, I took the little male to the vet and he said he was very healthy. They are very sweet and gentle considering they were neglected in the previous home. What is the best way to find them a home? I've never had Yorkies but I can see why people love them so much! *I've also never owned AKC registered pure breds. I don't want them to end up in a puppy mill. I do want to get back the money I've spent. Any ideas? Thank You! |

Have you thought of getting a trainer? |
I'd try training, and keeping them separated from your other dog while your away. I had this trouble when I brought a new mini schnauzer puppy in to our home with an older one. They fought really REALLY bad for the first few weeks. It was so bad that I thought I'd have to get rid of the puppy. We ( my family) decided to work at getting them to at least not fight each other. It took at least a month ( closer to 2) of having both in a room with all of us. We took turns playing with them...one on one, and together. It was worth the time. The older dog eventually took on a protective mommy role...cleaning the puppy's eyes, helping with potty training...ect. They loved each other so much after a few months. It was worth the time we took with them. |
If you go to petfinder . com you can do a search for rescues in your area. Please be careful about selecting one that is for Yorkies only or is a small dog rescue. Make sure how they select applicants so you know they have a good interviewing process and actually check out the homes the dogs will go to. If there is no other way of keeping them that is the best you can do for them. I hope things go well for the two and that they can stay together. |
if you decide to rehome your yorkies and you want to go with a rescue group there is one in california.. Southern California Yorkie Rescue |
