Poop Eatting My yorkie is 10 months old. She has started eatting her poo in the last 2 weeks. Also pooping inside after going waiting to go outside since we had her at age 4 months. She was doing so well, then out of no where, she will poop inside and then sit there and nibble on it and make a mess everywhere. Even poop right in her bed and eat it there. My husband didnt believe me but caught her this evening in the act. I understand puppies doing this, but why the sudden to start now? Nothing has changed. Dog food is the same. I feed Blue. She isnt the smartest yorkie either. We think she was abused or strangled by the breeders kids as a puppy. She doesnt act like our other yorkie or like any of the yorkies when we have play dates. Its like she isnt all there in her head. She wont train either. Ive trained 2 deaf dogs along with our other yorkie. Im just one flustered mom....:( |
Theres nothing wrong with her mentally because shes poop eating alot of dogs do it feed her pineapple it will make the poop unappetizing |
Pinapple or get the bitter stuff from the vet. Why do you think the breeders kids strangled her, that's a pretty specific hard to come by gathering? I mean I assume someone beat Scoovers with a brush as a puppy, he was generally afraid of many things grass, people open spaces...but as soon as he saw a hair brush and I walked up to him to brusg him, he fled and peed as he ran into the corner where he snarled abd shook and eventually lost bowel control...so I assume since it was his first dramatic reaction to a brush and mobths of similar responses specifically to a brush, that a brush hurt him prior to ne having him. Scoobers also has a dislike quite specific to blond women who speak Spanish and in general. Very strange, not sure where that comes from but tested it a few times and its quite consistant. So I'm just especially curious why the specifics on thinking the breeders kids strangled her? Poop eating can be a behavioral issue, if the dog refuses food or chooses eating poop over food...vets disagree on this issue sane as trainers, behavioalists feel more like this is a dysfunction, anyways some see it as normal behavior that just grosses people out and more recently it is being seen or suggested as a behavioral issue. When I first got Scoobers he'd poop on his bed in the corner and lay down and sleep next to his pwn feces...that is a specific abd distinct behavioral issue. Its hard to judge sometimes...anyways pinapple if not get the vitamin stuff from the vet. Make 100%a sure if the potty spot has been nade in tge house you completely comvat removing the scent abd watch like a hawk to go out to your designated potty spot right away. If all else fails potty pads then move them outside...like retraining all over again. |
My Milo only eats his poop in the house. If he poops on his pad he will eat it but if he's outside he will leave it alone. Crazy. I guess it tast better in the house. Lol |
My y pup was doing the same thing. She's five months old now, and I think she's finally stopping. I had to watch her every time she pooped on the pads, or she would eat it as fast as she was putting it out, yuck! She has been on frozen pineapples for months. Two in the am and two in the pm. I have to say it really works! Now I'm trying to get her potty outside. That hasn't been so easy, because she's use to the pee pads. Now see really confused! Try the pineapples, but have to be the frozen ones! Good luck! |
My Abby starting eating Ziva's poop at about 8 months, I saw a Cesar Milan dog whisperer show that he treated a dog with banana- thinking he was short on potassium. I gave it to Abby (she gobbled it up) and had results within 2 weeks- I freeze discs in the freezer or give her fresh every day, I don't want to go back there:eek: again. Altho she is a year old now, we haven't had any more eating incidents. |
Here is a thread that may be of interest to you. The YT poop Guru gave some good advice in this thread. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...-his-poop.html |
