Big Yorkie I am brand new to this forum and am delighted with my new pup, Milo. He is 5 months old and I have had him almost 4 weeks. I am totally in love with him. I had 2 Pembroke Welsh Corgies and this is my first Yorkie. My question is: Are there Yorkies that weigh more than 7 pounds? He weighs 10 pounds. I don't mind, however, because everyone in my family is big and a tiny dog could get hurt. Any feedback about size is appreciated. |

welcome to yorkie talk and congrats on your first yorkie . they are awesome little dogs. yes , yorkies come in all sizes. in some cases they can go up to 20 pounds. yorkies over 7 pounds are lovingly referred to as "teapots". if your little guy is already 10 pounds at 5 months looks like you have a cuddly snuggly little teapot. my oscar is a small teapot @ 7 1/2 pounds and he is 1 year old . i think it is cool that yorkies come in a variety of sizes that way everyone can find the right fit for their family. it looks like you found yours. he is a very lucky little guy... have fun |
Welcoms to YT! Congrats on your new fella...can't wait to see lots of pictures :D |
Elvis weighs 12.2 pounds. A member here has a 24 pound purebred. |
Welcome to YT. You'll have fun here. I don't have a teapot. Maybe I have half a teapot at 4 whopping lbs. at 10 months old. But shhhh! She thinks she's much bigger.;) |
Yorkies used to be bigger so there are throw backs sometimes. Mine is 16 pounds and I love it :D I would love to see pictures of your pup! |
Yes they can be and thats the way I like them because we are active outdoorsy type of people and a bigger yorkie fits into our life style more. Chachi can keep up with us when we take to walking trails Jewels My 8 lber cant |
Cozy is a teapot which she says is because she had 10 babies (2 litters). What woman could keep their shape after that:). Just more of her to love:) Lucy is a slight teapot at 7.5 pounds. RIP ZOEY was only 5 pounds generally and her littermate sister Roxy is 3.5-4 pounds generally. I believe Yorkies were down breed over the years from 20 pounds. |
Orion is a teapot at 10lbs..give or take depending on the day...Raelle is a whopping 4.5lbs!!! Jersey who isnt home with me yet is 3lbs at 9wks, so who knows how big she will get. The breeder say she is charting to be 6lbs. Welcome to YT and congratulations on your first yorkie!! |
Hello and welcome... |
