Need help, dogs barking too much! Hello, I have a small problem. I have 3 yorkies and I just got a complain from the landlord that they are barking way too much when I am gone. They bark if they see any people by the drive way or if they hear people in the hallway. I would like to know if anyone has had the same problem, if so what did you do? Is there any device that I can buy that may help? I'm not interested in any collars. Any help will be highly appreciated! :animal-pa |

well i have a few suggestions. 1. before you leave for the day take them for a nice long walk and have a good play session to tire them out real good and then gate them in a room where there are no windows at their level such as the kitchen and give them plenty of toys to play with. 2. leave the television on (although this may not work if they bark at sounds but you could try it). 3. hire a dog walker to come mid day to take them for a walk and play with them tire them out. good luck |
i will add be sure all the shades are down and you gate them from the area closest to the door where they can hear neighbors passing by. good luck. |

I agree with all of the above. A long walk before you leave will tire them out for a lot of time you are gone. Keeping them in a room away from the front door and keeping the shades down will keep them from seeing and hearing what is going on outside but it is going to make for a very boring day for them. Having someone come in to walk them would sure help. When you get home I hope you are walking them vigorously at least two more times. Bored dogs develop habits that can be troublesome to you and your neighbors. They were not meant to sit quietly all day. If they must be alone all day then you need to make up the difference when you are home. |

A radio. I had the same problem with my dogs and got calls from my Condo Association. My neighbor told me to try putting a radio on when Im not home to drowned out any outside noises. Well it must have worked bc I never got another letter or complaint again. :) |
