Trying to wash my Taras face is so difficult! Hi does anyone else have this problem my Tara hates to have her face washed she's absolutely perfect having her body washed she's as good as gold but when it comes to her face i struggle she gets food all over her face and it smells i really don't want to frighten her any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Many Thanks :) |
i just go slower up by the face as mine hate the face being done also. i save it for last and keep telling them how go they are and cookies are coming cause were almost done. the more often you do it the more tolerant they will become. |
Thankyou very good tip! May i also ask what do you use on their face?? Im very worried about getting anything into her eyes. Ive recently purchased a product called Diamond Eyes from the pet store to clean the tear gunk around her eyes it also says you can use it to cleanse the face do you think this would be a good idea?? |
if it says it;s ok then try with caution but if it specifically does not stat tear free i would avoid direct eye contact. i have never used that product. i use warm water only if they are really messy then i just use a lil splash in shine shamphoo water down on the face cloth and avoid their eyes. i clean their eyes daily but warm water takes the eye boogies right off for me. i then brush them and spray them with the detangler from splash and shine which smells great. |
I don't have a tearing problem but all these little ones should have their faces groomed daily. Gracie hates it when I try to comb her mustache and around her eyes. She is good for every other part of her grooming except her face. If she is being particularly stubborn I take her chin hair in my left hand and hold it firmly. I don't twist or pull but I have it firmly enough that she cannot twist her head from side to side. That way I can get her combed out or wash her face with a damp cloth if need be without worrying about hurting her eyes. It is quick and she knows now not to fight me on this. Being beautiful isn't always easy. |
Join the club. Brandi hates anything to do with her face. I have to comb or wash daily because her food get's stuck in her mustache. I usually try to keep her face hair and butt hair trimmed so I don't have to wash it as often. |
THis may be obvious, but with Dink the washcloth has to be nice and warm. |
Another option is to get your damp cloth ready when they are napping. MY baby likes to take naps on my lap. Once your pup is asleep you can gently wash they eye area. If this is done on a daily basis it will not be such a big job to do. They also sell pre moistened wipes for dog's eyes that can make an easy job of cleaning - daily. |
What are you using to wash her face? If I use the shower head Callie will freak out even though I am not spraying it in her face so for her face I have to use a little pitcher and fill it with water and be very careful. |
My best friend is a groomer, and I watcher her groom Ellington. She grabs the chin/beard hair to trim the face. I now do the same, and it does really keep him from wriggling so much. |
Thanks for the tips guys! i use a cloth but she turns her head away or puts her head right down so i can't get to her face i've taken her by the chin but she tends to make funny noises like snorts as though she's struggling to breathe even though im nowhere near her neck i manage to do it but not as good as i'd like i'll have to keep trying i'll find the right technique eventually!! :D |
I managed a few times to do it by having a wet small towel and playing tug of war with it. While playing he gets all wet on the mustache then I can try to comb it. The only problem is that he likes to chew the comb so I still have to find a solution for that... |
