In the news paper today. Yorkie torn between two families. This story is so sad. What do you guys think should happen here? BROWNSTOWN TOWNSHIP: Dog is torn between two families - thenewsherald.com |
The person who first purchased the dog is the legal owner. It's the shelter's fault for not checking for the chip the dog was carrying. It is sad that the boy is without the dog but it sounds like the grandfather is more interested in getting his money back. Maybe the shelter could give the man and the boy another dog since it was their mess up. |

I'm so happy that she got her baby back! |
Agreed... If that were one of my babies I would not let the 2nd owner have them back. I can only imagine how the original owner felt after being reunited With her baby. I would gladly pay the other family a "compensation" for taking good care of him for the past year and a half... |
Yes. Charlie belongs to her! I agree! That whole story is weird. I have not heard of a pound that doesn't check for microchips. Hello! I am glad she found him! |

Yup, I'll either insist they buy one or I will just do so myself! Thx for the info! |
Charlie Bam Bam is right back where he belongs. Perhaps a new dog for the boy cmon he is 5the he'll recover and honestly it sounds like he could use a service trained dog anyways. I understand the grandpa being mad and frusterated. If I adopted a rescue abd was in his shoes I'd be hurt frustrated angry too. |
What a sad story... If I were Charlie's owner, I would purchase a puppy for the family who took care of him for a year and a half. They put a lot of love and money into the puppy and I would reward them by buying them another dog. It sounds like that would solve the problem... I wonder what will happen? |
If this ever happened to Tibbe and he was returned to me, no one would get him, however long they had had him. He's my dog. I think Charlie is back with his momma and probably very happy to be home. I really don't know the wisdom of a child having a small Yorkie anyway as many of them tend not to be that watchful or careful of the fragility of a small dog, though I know there are exceptions. Being a child, he will soon accept another dog and love it just as he did Charlie. |
1 Attachment(s) Oh definately! That's Charlie!! The first Owner, Is the owner. I don't have mine all micro-chipped, but this makes me want to get them all. It would kill me if I lost one of my babies, and someone wanted to keep them. When I saw Charlie's picture, I thought, Wow, good thing he's a male, because he looks like my Rosie after going to the groomers. :aimeeyork |
the poor little guy should definetly go to his original owner. It is not like she abandoned him . She has been looking for him and she loves him. the second owner knows the story and he knows the dog is not his. Shame on him for trying to keep this dog from a family that loves him and wants him back |
