OK...dont yell at me!!!!! Ok.. well as all of you know..Mason and potty training isnt working at all..SO...Jeff and I had an idea....lets get a piece of wood and put it on his pee pad and see what he does well guess what???HE PEED!!YEAH!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D BUT..now hes starting to chew on it alittle...that is ok isnt it? I have seen other dogs do it but yorkies are kinda senstive so i thought i better get some feedback!! :confused: Kristy and Mason |
I am not "Yelling" but you know the answer is no. Splinters in the wood could do so much damage to the insides of your baby same as it could to you. Maybe you could spray it with bitter apple so he won't chew because I like your idea. |
The wood isn't really safe for him, but you do have a brilliant idea with getting him to pee there. I agree with livingdustmops, try a bitter apple spray so he doesn't chew, and hopefully he'll continue to just pee there! |
:eek: Ouch! Splinters in the tummy not to mention the mouth. Maybe you can wrap the wood w/ that indoor ~ outdoor grass carpet stuff? Maybe he will be less apt to chew on it. :confused: Your idea is wonderful so I'm sure there is a way of training him not to chew on his potty aids, LOL. :thumbup: |

pee pad Fill a liter soda bottle with pebbles or sane..and use that...when my males got past puppy stage I put a paper lunch bag over the bottle and it was their pee pole.. |
I'm with Cindy, Liz, & Schatzie - if he likes peeing on it, then it's a great idea. However, it is very dangerous for him to chew on wood. A great suggestion that I got from YorkieTalk (wish I knew who to give the credit to!) was using clear deodorant as a chewing deterrent. Works beautifully and doesn't have to be reapplied as often as the spray products! |
Well.. Thank you for not yelling too bad.. I am happy to say he does not chew on it anymore. I took the spray deodorant and sprayed it on the log, he actually quit chewing on it before than but i want to make 100% sure. ..i thought it may deter him from peeing on it so i kept about an inch all the way around the bottom un sprayed and hes peeing up a storm. He is still pooing on the floor so hes now in the slammer...maybe ill get him to do both!! :rolleyes: Kristy and Mason |

I use to do the same with the soda bottle and then draped his pee pad over it. Mac loved his little indoor hydrant. |
Unless you plan to always have that stick there, I wouldn't recommend it. Do you plan to train your dog to do "its business" in the backyard? If so, use that method rather than the pads. We put the pads by the back door and for a few months trained Stomper to go there (give lots of treats and love when your baby does this). Then, once he got good at it and started walking towards the pad, we opened the door and told him to do his business. it worked great. If you do plan to train your dog indoors, there is a spray you can by that attracts the dog to the pad. Always reward. That will help. It takes tons of time but will be worth it if you watch him every second for about 1 month! |
This is all i am going to say: If it keeps him from pissing all over my furniture and walls than that little log of gold can stay in my back room on his pee pad! Thanks for the advice though! |
