I comb/brush Lucy daily. That really helps. Also, when she does get mats (and she does even though I groom her!) I use a small, round tipped scissor and cut it out. If you keep up the daily grooming, you'll find that the mats are small and can be clipped out without it being noticeable. Good luck. Tracey |

Here is a representation of some really great grooming combs. I use the 4.5 inch one for face, legs and feet and a 6" to 7" one for the body. When I have combed through any tangles I use a small Maden brush to fluff out the body. Therehttp://www.toplinepet.com/combs.php are also some good conditioning sprays on this site. I don't know what you have available where you are but I assume there must be some good grooming tools some where near by. Hope you have some good success soon. I think if you can get your pup accustomed to being handled you will have better success with grooming. Does he ever take a nap on your lap? When Gracie was a wiggly puppy I used to get some trimming done when she was zonked out on my lap. You may be able to get rid of some mats that way. |
Oh thank you so much for the info. I had a look at the website and the brushes and combs do look good. I am going out to look tomorrow. The vet practice's here keep a lot of accessories and most vets also have an outlet shop in shopping centers so I can look in those. They are well stocked. My husband went out yesterday and bought a shampoo called 'Purl' de -tangling (not sure if I already mentioned that.) It was so lovely & soft with an almost silky feel. Although she smelt good and looked better I could get some knots out but a lot stayed in. My sister recommended a 'Slicker' brush..have you heard of them? Once again thank you so much xxx:aimeeyork |
