Vomiting after vaccination? My puppy is 15 weeks. I gave her the Canine Spectra 5 vaccination today, which she has had before and acted fine. This time though, she threw up about 15 minutes after I gave it to her. She acted fine for a little bit, but for the most part has been pretty lethargic. Should I take her to the vet now, or just monitor her through the night and take her if she vomits any more? |
You yourself gave her the shot? I would never recommend that especially with small dogs. Lethargy is normal but I do not think throwing up is so I would call the vet. |
(If she is a breeder, a lot of us give our own vaccinations.) I have not ever had an adverse reaction (KNOCK ON WOOD!!!), other than minimal lethargy, for maybe just that evening....if I had one that started vomiting, I would at least call the vet and see what he thinks...and then I would be ready if the pup continues to vomit, to go to the vet or the ER....giving your own vaccinations, you have meds there in case of an anaphylactic reaction, so you can rest a little easier....but I would watch her closely. |
I called multiple ones but they won't give me information over the phone. She hasn't thrown up since, so I may just keep an eye on her through the night before taking her to the emergency clinic. |
