Itching Mikki is itching and continually scratches the same spot over and over. It is just this one spot. I have looked her over twenty times. I can't see any thing that would cause this. She has even "chewed" at it. She is on Vectra so I don't think flea. Any ideas????? The only thing I know to do is give her a bath? I just think it is so weird it is only the one spot! |
Dexter does this on his back legs and rump, so I took him to the vet and he said there was nothing wrong with him, he's just got an itch! lol But, it could be a reaction to products that you use or even the food you give her? Maybe someone will have a better answer :) |

Poor baby! Maybe a mosquito or ant bit her? Both of mine are highly allergic to fleas, and Luna seems to be allergic to any insect bite. She got into some fireants a couple of weeks ago and had two bites on her belly that set her to itching her whole body. Thankfully she stopped after getting a nice soothing medicated bath at the groomer. If it doesn't stop, it's vet time. Whatever the cause, she may need a steroid injection to stop the itch cycle. That's the only thing that stops my two from scratching. |

Taycie does this with certain shampoos. I am always hesitant to try something new but I find if it is less fragrant I am ok |
Oh yes, some Benadryl may help. It doesn't seem to help my two, it makes Izzy sleepy and Luna hyper:laugh: But a lot of itchy doggies are helped by it, so it's worth a try. It's listed in the sticky above with med dosages;) |
Poor Mikki:( I hate to hear she has the itchies. When Jada has something set off her allergies, in the past it usually meant a trip to the vet for a shot. Knock wood her last episode was about a year ago and she was given a shot and a script for Hydroxazine sp? Now the first sign of itchies I start dosing her with the hydroxazine and usually a couple of dose will get her better. Benadryl does nothing to help her. I hope you figure out what is causing it, allergies really suck. |
Well Mikki is still itching. DH finally helped me. We found two small bumps on her. I assume bites. She is on Vectra so I don\'t think it is fleas. However, the look and feel a lot like Chiggers. :(. Last time Rosie got into chiggers it ended up with a vet visit and a shot. So I\'m calling vet and setting up a time for Mikki to go in. I\'m sure she will end up with a shot as well. :( |
maybe she is allergic to fleas.. even with the preventive sometimes they can bite..then die:D My sammy will have a reaction from time to time. The vet said it only takes one bite! |
Benadryl is an option. If it helps then it would indicate that it was either a bug bite or that she is having an allergic reaction to something. People and animals can develop an allergy to something at anytime in life. The autoimmune system just decides to react to something that it has tolerated up until then. I hope it was just a bug bite. |
Awww, just saw this. Poor Mikki! Do let us know how the vet goes. I\'ll be thinking about her!! |
Just saw this, hope MikKi stops with the itches and feels better soon. Zhoie was scratching and recalled night before last she laid in grass for quite sometime, well, I looked her her chest over and sure enough, there was two little red pinspecks. I assume something bit her. Benaryl helped her. However, when pollen is high here...not so much:( |
The vet wants us to try consistent Benadryl for a few days. If that don\'t work, we will go in Friday for a shot. Praying the Benadryl works. Don\'t like my girls getting shots. :( |
