Excited to go to the vet Am I the only one who has a dog that absolutely loves to go to the vet? Callie gets so happy when she gets out of the car and sees where we are tail starts wagging like crazy even if she had been not feeling well. The vets office is also where she goes to get groomed. They always seem to make over how good she is so I guess she likes getting the attention but you would think getting poked and prodded and everything would make it not such a great place. I have to actually hold her back when the vet tech comes out and says ok we need to get your weight because she will jump up there and sit down before the scale is on and set at 0.0. My moms yorkie hates the vet and unless we walk him around outside first he poos like right when he enters the door. Normally they schedule the appointments so there's not two dogs in the waiting room at one time so shes not getting to see lots of dogs or anything. It just kinda makes me laugh seeing her so excited to go to the vet. |
Wow, that is amazing:eek: I have never heard of a pup that was happy to go to the vet:laugh: They must be super people there, they can do all that icky stuff that needs to be done, and she still loves them:love: That's so sweet!!!! |
my airedlae terrier loves going to the vet. we pull into the parking lot and he goes crazy. he loves all his "friends" at the vets office.. |
One of my little girls, Kiwi, had terrible allergies, and we tried so many things to control them including me giving her shots with allergy serum and also Chinese herbs. As much as my vet hated the use of steroids (he didn't want Kiwi to have them daily), he gave her a cortisone shot every six weeks because she would have suffered otherwise. Kiwi loved going to the vet, and her face would completely light up when she was going there. She loved the hour long roundtrip ride to go there, alone with her mom in the car, and she loved seeing the doctor who was so gentle and would put her at ease and make her feel safe. She knew that she was going to feel better after going to see the doctor. She ran into the office each time, loved seeing the office staff who made a big fuss over her, and enjoyed saying hello to all of the other people in the waiting room. It has been nine years since Kiwi passed away, but there are still people at the vet who bring her up to me when they see me. Kiwi always loved going for rides in the car and seeing people, but there was something very different about going to the vet. The sparkle in her eyes, her smile and almost whimsical look on her face, and the way she ran from the car into the office were all clear indicators that Kiwi was thrilled to be going to see the doctor who helped her immensely whenever she was sick. |
My girls hate going to the vet! They get so nervous it is unbelievable. They shake and cling to me. In my house, I would have to say yes you are the only one with a pup who loves going to the vet! :D. Callie sounds like she is well loved there! |
That is very good that Callie loves her vet's office. :) Max and Teddy enjoy going to the vet. I think it is more about spending alone time with me, going in the car, seeing other doggies, and going for a walk around the vet's office. |

Wow, what a good girl, Callie. Jackson HATES it. He begins to shake sometimes. And the minute the vet starts poking and prodding, he's climbing up me as far as he can. Though I will say at our current vet, he tolerates much better than any past vets we've been to. He doesn't LIKE it, but he seems to know they're friendly and aren't going to *hurt* him so he generally puts his ears back and is just very sweet. He's not aggressive or hard to handle. Just hates it, lol. |
LOL, my dogs don't realize is the VET, they think is my Son's other house..LOL hugs, |
Tibbe absolutely loves to go to the vet. Everybody there treats him like the little king he is and he gets to see the other dogs in the back when they take him back to run a test or something. I never have had a dog that didn't love to go to the vet, though so I am used to it. |
That is wonderful, Yoshi doesn't like it at all and Miss Priss seems ok with it but I wouldn't say loves it. |
That's pretty unusual that Callie likes the vet so much. :D You're very lucky that she does though and doesn't get stressed out. I know my girls sure don't like the vet and start to shake on the way there. I swear they know the way to the vet by car and it's like 20 minutes on the highway from here. I think they hate getting poked and prodded. The last time I brought Shayla and Maggie in for their shots Shayla hid under the chair in the waiting room while our vet was examining Maggie. LOL :D |
The breeder that I got Ashley, Kiwi, and Gracie from(not Katie's breeder) told me that I should take my little ones to Carvel after our trip to the vet. The car ride round-trip is 45 miles, and they loved the car, but they also associated something else positive with going to the vet because of the icecream. Between the three of them, they didn't have much icecream, but it doesn't have to be icecream, just anything positive to associate the vet with. All three liked the adventure of going to the vet, but none were as thrilled as Kiwi was to see the vet. Callie sounds like she is such a precious little girl. |
