new yorkie mom... need help! hi, i just brought my new baby home a week ago. his name is romeo. he is 8 weeks old and is doing great. the vet has checked him out and says he is very healthy...he weighs 2 lbs 15 oz. i am feeding him science diet puppy food (small bites) and i add water to it to soften it. romeo will drink all the water first then eat his food, but he wont drink water by itself. i am worried that he is not getting enough water...has anyone else had this problem. he ate dry food yesterday but still did not drink any of his water. i had to put more food in his bowl w/ water so that he would drink....PLEASE HELP! |
I had the same problem with Sprocket. He didn't like the taste of it. I got one of those water filration flowing water dishes and he drinks a lot more! He just needs it to be fresh tasting. I'm the same way though I can't drink water from the tap it has a bad aftertaste where I live. Hope it helps :animal-sm |
I'm sure my husband thinks I baby Bo too much but sometimes I can get him to drink water if I fill his little bowl and hold him while he drinks. If he's not thirsty at the time he will refuse it. The other thing, just make sure you're not putting too much water in with the food to where he has to drink before he's able to eat any...just a thought. |
thanks thanks everyone, he finally started drinking water by itself last night. i noticed that he would not eat the wet food so i gave him dry food and put his water next to it. he ate all his food then drink a lot of water! i was so glad. he has to go to the vet today for his 2nd round of shots...poor baby :( |
:bravo: ROMEO!!! Let the growing up begin (don't grow too fast though...we LOVE babies) |
