Poop I've had Bentley for about a week. I read that yorkies should have to use the bathroom about 5-10 minutes after they eat or drink. Recently Bentley is taking hours to poop. For example he ate at 5 and it is 9 now and he still has not pooped. He also just ate another meal 10 minutes ago and still has not pooped. He is only 1 lb 14 ounces so he doesn't have a lot of room in there and he's only 8 weeks. Is this ok? |
Oh my goodness 1.14 lbs!! I bet he's a cutie pie. I am not too sure on this issue but I don't think you need to worry too much if its a few hours, but if his belly is bloated and he seems uncomfortable you should take him to the vet. Maybe you should start a poopie log and record when he eats and when he poops. That way you will have documentation if you end up taking him to the vet. When my Max was in the 2lb category, he probably pooped 3-4 times a day. He did not poop 5-10 minutes after meals. He peed a lot though. Good luck! |
Toki tends to poop after meals but not always. It depends when the last time she pooped was. Like she'll poop before/after breakfast and then again after dinner. If I take her on a 10-15 minutes afternoon walk and she poops, she won't go after dinner and might go during our evening walk or sometimes not until the next morning. As long as food is going in one end and coming out the other, I wouldnt worry about it. Having a full belly and also walking stimulate the urge to void but if there ain't nothin' in the tank, ain't nothin' gonna come out haha |
I wouldnt worry about it. They go when they gotta go. At least you dont have my problem, she eats poop lol |
I wish it was easy to predict, but none of my seemed to poop in correlation to when they ate, even though tons of books say the opposite. |
chester dont go until hrs and hrs after he has eaten |
Ellington definintely doesn't need the toilet that soon after eating. He only really needs to go, when I take him outside. |
Phew! Thanks everyone :) |
my Emy poops every 7 hours like clockwork, she poops 3 times a day. She wakes me up at 4:00 am to poop, then she poops at 11:00 (give or take 1/2 hour maybe) then she poops again around 6 or 7, then she goes to bed. She doesn't poop after she eats ever. But she does pee 20x's a day seems like. Can't seem to time that one...... |

Plus it will save me a TON of trips outside because I'm waiting for him to poop ;) |
Abby is a year old (already!) and it took me a while to figure it out but she poops when she is starting to get hungry again- guess her stomach turns on and starts things moving:rolleyes:. |
Yes, mine won't eat with a full belly. After a poo he always goes and eats - he's got space I guess! |
He's fine it sounds. Bella doesn't poop after she eats either. This made me think of something along the same lines. Humans are suppose to poop about 30 minutes after we eat also, but I don't know to many that does. LOL |
Roxie only poops once a day, and it's always a surprise when it's going to happen. We just have to make sure we have poo bags with us every time we take her out. I wish we could predict when it was going to happen! Just this past weekend she didn't poop from Saturday night until last night...48 hours! |
Secret Pooper Both of my yorkies don't like being watched when they poop - they act real shy and if I happen to see them - they act embarassed. |
