Yelping help
 
My Trinket is almost 13 weeks old. How do I keep her from screeching yelping when we leave the room. She sleeps good all night as long as I am in the bed next to her crate/puppy apartment. Is it just her young age, or do we have her spoiled? lol

She will get better as she gets older. Right now she's just a baby and wants to be with you.:animal-pa

yes, she will get used her own bed.

Probably going to take some time but make sure your not reacting to the yelping or she will just keep doing it.

She is still a baby. I don't think you can spoil a baby. If she is not sleepy I'm sure she would much rather be with you. When she gets big enough to wear a harness you can put the harness on her with a leash and keep her with you when you leave the room. That way you are able to watch her every movement as well as keep her happy. It really helps with house training. Every time you see her looking like she has to pee or poo and get her to the right place to do it gets you closer to her knowing what to do at all times. Tethering the puppy to you is a great training aid. I know you can't do it all the time but as much as possible will speed up the training time.

should we just ignore it? Someone usually goes to pick her up. Sometimes you have to potty yourself lol. She cries the whole time you are gone. She is fine as long as someone is in the room with her. Also, thanks everyone for the advice.

Is she crated when she is yelping? Puppy's love attention and if someone always runs to them they figure out real fast that the yelping is working lol. Its kind of like with our skinkids if you picked them up every time they fussed you would never get anything done and they would be spoiled rotten.

she is in her x pen in the living room. She is fine at night in her crate when I turn out the lights

Yes unless she has been asleep for awhile and you think she needs to go potty then you take her potty and then put her right back. I know it sounds terrible but it does work. When I first got Callie and she would stop crying I was terrified to even move lol

try putting a piece of your clothing (that you don't mind getting messy if she has an accident on it) in her pen. Leave a radio on do she hears noise. maybe this will help

The blanket with your scent or a little soft music can be very calming for them...they're just like kids, they'll test you too =)
