Thank you he's adjusting very well running and playing with the kids I have to get his kennel ready for to night I hope he doesn't cry he's gonna sleep in my room so I'm hoping that helps him :)

Ok so since my JoJo was already an adult and I didn't have to worry about shots only yearly when should Jasper get his shots
The lady said she gave him the heart guard and flea med for the month and that he had his first set of shots I totally forgot how puppies get their shots lol I am planing on taking him to the vet on Thursday or Friday :) :animal-pa

Two months old? Sorry that's not a rehome, they must be breeders. They had two didn't you say?

Are puppies 8 weeks old even supposed to get heartworm and flea meds yet?

I'm sorry but I think this was probably a breeder who wanted to get rid of her pups they are to young to be rehomes in my opinion and way to young to even be from there mom. I think replying to adds in papers is a very bad idea and I think if you want to rescue a reputable rescue is the best place.

Wow she does have a life and one of the things she does is help to rescue dogs who need homes and that makes a hero in my opinion but maybe I am spending to much time with my dog............

I agree. It's because of selfless, caring people like TxVicki that many of us are able to have these wonderful dogs. Not to mention the fact that she contributes in many positive ways to the success of Yorkie Talk in educating us newbies to provide the best quality life possible for our yorkies. He'll be 12 weeks on weds and the lady I got him from was going to use him as a stud for the other puppy she sold she. was not able to keep them as planned so she was re selling them or re homing them ... She must have gotten him from another breeder at an earlier age I was more concerned with the fact that she was gonna breed them and wasn't a "breeder" so I figured he would be better off with us and in a home where he will be loved and cared for ... As for the whole heart guard and flea meds a puppy that's 6 weeks and older cam use advantix and heart guard I think at 8 weeks and older but I'm not sure on the heart guard I haven't looked it up yet anyway he's going to the vet thursday or Friday I have to call them tomorrow ...

Just looked it up and heartgard can be given to pups 6 weeks and older

I would try to get him to the vet as soon as possible for a check and not put it off.

You cannot tell if a pup is breeding worthy at 8 wks old. Not even the best showers can. This just confirms that these people are breeders, not rehoming or rescuers.

Well I can only go by what she told me I'm sorry if it's not what you'd like to hear ... And your right about not being able to tell if he's not worthy but like she told me her plans changed and wasn't going to be able to do what she wanted which was to breed him after all not because of him but because her home situation changed ... Again I feel like I saved him whether that's the case or not that's how I feel
He's 11 1/2 weeks as of today and will be 12 on Wednesday he's not 8 weeks you were asking if a puppy could get flea and hw meds at that age puppies can start receiving meds as early as 6 weeks when they get their 1st shots

congratulations on your new puppy! doesn't sound like he was in very good condition when you got him...sounds to me like you DID rescue him...GOOD FOR YOU!

Congratulations on your new puppy. Did he have papers of any kind? I am just wondering because 4.2lbs sounds quite large for a 12 week old Yorkie puppy. I know some people are breeding very large Yorkies but I'm just wondering if they could have gotten the birth date wrong. Hope you had a good first night with the little guy.:)

As far as I know receiving shots at 6 weeks is not advisable because they still have some immunity from there mothers and makes the shots useless.

Well like I keep saying I can only go by what I was told... If you read the recommendations on the flea meds and heartgard it tells you as far as the vaccinations I didn't say he got them at 6 weeks I said some can be given and some are given that early I read my vets web site and that's what it says there now I know that that's a standard guide line so it may not pertain to yorkies ...

Thank you and no he didn't have any papers my JoJo did and they didn't do me any good since I had him neurted and he's was a pet... As far as size JoJo was the same size as Jasper is now at the same age and ended up being standard size I'm not really worried about size though ;)
I know comparing them like that doesn't mean anything but I'm just using that as a guide :)

Oh and he did pretty good for his first night not a peep out of him he woke up at 5 am to go potty then played for 30 min or so and went back to bed

I personally think that if you have the time and money in your life to spend on a rescue that has potential anxiety or health issues then do that.
Me I went the route of a quality breeder and healthy pups.
If I had the means I would rescue and foster just because
