Taking your Yorkie with you... I haven't had my Yorkie very long ---but the other night it was cold. I didn't want to leave my pup in the car and took him into the Safeway store with me. He is little - was covered with a blanket (except for his face) and was quiet and well behaved. No one (even the employees) told me he couldn't be in the store. And, everyone who noticed him thought he was very cute --of course! I had no problem with him in the store that evening. Where do you take your dogs. Where are they allowed --and what sort of places might not allow them. (My brother-in-law, a restaurant owner said dogs are not allowed in restaurants - other than seeing eye dogs, etc. It's against health regulations.) I would like to take my dog with me more - but don't want to cause any problems. And, I don't approve of "sneaking him into places where he shouldn't be." I know a lot of people do this --but it is not the right thing to do. Carol Jean |
It all depends on where you live and how dog friendly they are. I have read on here where people take their dogs everywhere. Here the only place I can take them is petco and petsmart. |
At Dunkin Dounuts 1 Attachment(s) I was eating my favorite egg and cheese bagle sandwich at dunkin dounuts. I had him in my bag to be ready to leave if someone told me "no dog." My favorite pic! |
Well they arent allowed in Target(I got in trouble :( ) or usually any place that sells grocerys- health reasons. I think its actually a health code thing. I think if you have them in a closed in carrier that looks like a purse, you wouldnt have an issues. |
I take Princess everywhere with me. If I didn't, I'd be home a lot. :D |
They generally are not allowed any place that sells food - so that is a lot of places. I take Rowdy to sporting goods stores that my hubby frequents a lot. I've had him in Lowes and Home Depot. I do put him in a denin bag carrier that is very enclosed and I take him places that he really is not supposed to go - but I only do it if it is too cold or too hot to leave him in the car. |
I currently live in Germany and they are so dog friendly and tolerant with animals in many places....to the point of bringing their dogs along with them to restaurants!!! So that just gives me the opportunity to take Twinkie with me WHEREVER I go. Ive had her for only 2weeks but I have taken her to coffee shops, malls and supermarkets with no problems. Actually I have a hard time leaving the stores since everyone gathers around us and starts petting her. :p |

I have been in gas stations and other stores with her. Sometimes you can call ahead and ask. Alot of places don't care if she's kept in the bad and her feet don't touch the floor. |
Has anyone taken their Yorkie on a train or subway? I live in the city so I may want to take my yorkie with me a lot on public transportation. I plan to call my railway system but was just wondering because I never saw anyone bring pets there other than seeing-eye dogs. |

We take our girls lots of places, esp. when we go shopping...but anywhere their is food we don't, for health reasons...so like Walmart, Target, grocery stores...but they go lots of places with us!! They love to go, go, go so we take them as often as we can!! |
Vivi goes everywhere I take Vivi with me to restaurants, movies, drugstores, grocery stores etc. Most of the time she is tucked under my coat with her head sticking out.If it is place that doesn't allow dogs ,ie.restaurants, I have a dog carrier that resembles a handbag and no one knows she is there. This only works in restaurants that have booths or outside tables. I love having her with me. :) |
Gucci has gone with us shopping and some fast food restaurants. She stays on her carrier and nobody even know she is there. Last January we stood at a hotel in Atlantic City and on our way back home(NYC) my cousin decided to stop at Applebee's. We couldn't leave Gucci on the car beacuse it was cold and the parking was far from the restauant, so I had no choice to snick her in. The whole time we were there Gucci was sleeping on her carrier. Nobody even notice. |
I'm lucky that Bouncer can go to work with me since I work in a groom shop/boutique. But he's been to the grocery store, hospital, mall, and just tons of other places. I know for a fact Dogs are allowed in Lows and Home Dept. And most places, so long as there is no food sold, will typically allow dogs. And then again, if you have a carrier that looks like a purse (I have one), you can take them just about anywhere if you have to. Also, most banks don't care if dogs come in or not either. Bouncer goes to the bank with me every Friday and it's all we can do to get out the door without people wanting to hold him. lol If you have a doubt, just call and ask. Most businesses will appreciate that you even care to make sure it's OK beforehand. |
Well, Tucker can legally go anywhere because he is a service dog for my mom :) |
I took Macie into Cabelas and we caused a commotion b/c eveyone want to see her , touch her blah blah blah. Anyway, they were very nice and offered to put her in a KENNEL! We left. |

I've taken Rowdy into Bass Pro Shop openly, they were very friendly and welcomed him in - but they did not have a restaurant in the store. |
I've taken my Brandy into lots of places. The only places that have told me she can't be there were an Albertson's grocery store and Target. We have several restaurants with outdoor patio dining areas and I have taken her there and usually she is not the only dog there. Other than that no one ever seems to mind. Of course I never put her on the ground. Usually in my arms or shopping cart. The biggest problem I find is that it takes forever to shop because everyone wants to see her and pet her. Sometimes I try to be really sneaky and keep her hidden just so I can get in and out quicker. |

Since it's been cold i've tried taking Logan in more places and no one seems to notice or car. I put him in his bag and zip it up and act like he's not in there. And he just lays in there good and quiet unless he has to potty and then he whines. We took him to the mall, old navy, bedbath and beyond, and Kohl's and no one even noticed expect for a few kids. I think you should be alright as long as they don't serve or sell food and there isn't a sign on the front door that says no pets. And what's the worse that can happen, they ask you to leave, and I would imagine most places won't since they want your business unless your dog is making a mess or causing a commotion. |
Taking your Yorkie with you... 1 Attachment(s) Daisy goes just about everywhere with me-no restaurants though. I got in trouble with her at Walmart, but it wasn't until I was checking out and had been in there for almost 2 hours that any employee noticed. I had her sitting right there in the baby seat next to my purse. I do think just out of courtesy to others to leave them out of restaurants though. Not sure how I'd feel if someone's lab or pit were in the booth next to me. I know, I know we are talking about different sizes, but the impact is still the same. But hey, different strokes for different folks :) |

I was not going to leave my baby in the car. Tonight, I have to go to the store and I am going to take him in his little bag...... |
doggie purse I got my doggie purse from Avon. It is a really nice one and was only 19.99. I was in Gordmans the other day and they had some really cute ones and they also has some other nice pet things. Bowls, etc. Their doggie purses were $19.99 but when I went back yesterday they had marked them down to $14.99. I have taken Jasmine a lot of places in hers and nobody even knows I have her. She is always so quiet like she knows. I have taken her to Walmart several times. If the purse is a little big you could put a blanket in it. I put one in Jasmine's as she is very cold natured anyway. It makes it more comfortable for her and keeps her a little warmer. She has grown a little more in the last couple of weeks so she fills it up a little more. I brought her to work with me this morning because I accidently stepped on her this morning just before I left. You know how they are always one step behind you. I turned around and stepped on her. I was so upset and afraid that I might have hurt her so I brought her with me so I could watch her. I had to run over to one of the schools, so I put her in her little bag and no one even caught on to the fact that she was with me. |
I just got an open style carrier and I am gonna try to take Jewels to some places with me. |
