A dose of benedryl should eliminate any reaction she may have. :) |
I got all Gigis shots including rabies at 6 months. Luckily she hasnt had a problem shes also on a heart worm and comfortis for fleas.? Gosh I hope your baby does well. Maybe because mine is bigger "Teapot" lol thats why she hasnt had any issues?? I hope it goes well. I wouldnt worry yourself sick about it., if you dont trust your vets advice maybe get other opinions with multiple vets. |

Also you could ask the vet to give half the Rabies as a test to see if she'll have an allergic reaction, rather than injecting the whole thing at once. If no reaction, give her the other half. She make get stuck twice, but that is minor compared to an allergic reaction. |
Unfortunately it is required to do rabies here or my dofs can be taken from me fully vacinated and I would have to pay fines go to court and risk loosing them. Having said that I do rabies every 3 years and thats it. Medical waivers are rarely granted in America. When in doubt wait it out I say. But weigh your risks carefully please. |
Keno has been a Tea Pot from the get go, at 12 weeks he was almost 5 lbs. My vet split up all his shots. No combinations at any time. That is how he handles Yorkshire Terriers and other small breed dogs. Keno has had no reactions and I believe it is due to the Dr.'s way of doing vacinations. He was neutered at 6 months and that was a non event. I picked him up at 2:00 and it was business as usual, potty, eating etc. It was like nothing happened, what a difference from my Bichon Frise was had a reaction to everything. Different Vet???? I think so. Find a vet who has alot of experience with toy dogs. |
I have a tiny yorkie who is 1.5y/o, 2.5lb. and i I'm not planning on giving him the rabies vaccine. after i read so many bad stories I'm not going to give any of my furbabies rabies vaccines anymore. my recommendation if Sophie would be mine, i would wait till she is at lest 1y/o before i make a decision. Also i heard that giving Advantage or any other flea/tick medicine every month is not good. and should only be given if you see fleas on them. (i personally use revolution flea and tick prevention when i do need it) Hope this helps. Good luck:) |

Thank you for your advice. I will have a lot to discuss with my vet at Sophie's appointment next week thanks to everyone's advice. Her vet is great and explains everything very well and takes the time to always answer all my questions and listen to my concerns. Looking into the rabies vaccination laws here in Ontario I may not have a choice but to vaccinate her. We also like to visit the States a lot and I know she will need to have the rabies vaccine to be able to cross the border with us. |

Barnawife...Princess Hope ended up with a small lump after her rabies shot. I never connected the two. I was worried and kept checking it to see if it would go down and it did. She was only 2 lbs when she had her shot and 3 months old. Being that I've never had a dog before I didn't know to question it. Thankfully she did well. She was a little sore, but other than that and the lump which I'm assuming was from the shot she had no other reaction. As to her spay that is in Sept and I'm nervous about the anesthesia. She's up to 3 lbs but I have no idea what she will be early Sept. Praying it goes well for your little one. |
