Need help with Keyra's barking... So Keyra is a sweetheart but she is very stern about people or other dogs. She will bark at everyone on walks near or far. Other dogs as well but even when they come near her she doesn't bite or anything she juss takes petting sweetly. We live in a apartment so I want her to stop barking so much at every sound. I mean I understand they bark lol but I want her to be a nice pup that doesn't bark at everyone and just at threats. Its hard walking her when we pass everyone and she is barking at people and at other dogs. Help please. I try saying "Shhhh" "inside voice" "no barking" constantly and none seem to work. Does anyone else have this problem and how did they resolve it? :) Thanks in advance :) |
Try a can with some coins in it and shake it so it catches her attention that helped with our doggie :aimeeyork |
Please help Hey everyone let me give you a little background on my Honda. My mother adopted Honda when she was about a year old. The couple that my mom adopted her from had, had her for about a year and she wasn't very socialized. When my mom got her she was momma's baby for 5 years. We found out that momma had lung cancer in Feb. of this year. Honda started becoming very pertective of mom. My mother passed away in March, Since then Honda has lived with me. I want to also add that I have a dog that Is 4 years old she gets along with the other dog pretty good as long as the other dog don't try to play with Honda. My problem is that Honda barks all the time. I am setting at the table typing this and she is barking because she thinks i'm eating. She barks at everything except when there is someone at the door. Another problem is that when I leave her at home for more then an hour there will be a nice little pile of yuck at the front door waiting for me. She is house broken. I don't know if this is because she misses my mom or what. Any help will be appricated |

I know that many will say you should shake the can of coins or spray with a water bottle but I have found that if you do some simple obedience training you will get a handle on the barking. Most dogs who bark like yours feel they are protecting themselves or their families or they may feel some what insecure. A dog that has been taught to sit, stay, down and to heel is more secure in that the owner is in control. When they don't feel they have to be "in charge" all the time the defensive barking will stop. Also, when they have learned to obey other simple words they will also learn the "no bark" command. |
