Doing Wonderful!!!!!!! :):):):):) Khaleesi is here! She has been here since Sunday and doing very well. I returned the Taste Of The Wild food and purchased Royal Canin sm breed puppy. I am mixing that with a little bit of Nutra Cal to maintain her sugar. She is doing wonderful. I brought her to my hospital to get checked out and my doctor gave her a clean bill of health! To respond to some of the comments i received on the previous post. I ask questions because i was unfamiliar with owning a small dog and i was coming here for advice. In time of crisis with animals I'm on it but when it comes to our own sometimes we forget what we educate people with. So please if the comments are going to be negative please keep them to yourself. My only concerns now is her chewing and constant whining. She is ok in the kennel. I put a eeyore doll in the with her and she snuggles right up to him. But when shes outside in our back yard she will sit at my feet and cry and cry and cry. I know shes tiny so I'm wondering is it the warm ground that is irritating her paws? And because she is so young( the doctor said 7 weeks) do i condone that behavior? Any tips would be helpful thank you. |
Congrats! You know pups should be with there o for 12 weeks right. not trying to be negative but someone on here is going to tell you that so I thought Id hit it off at the pass |
She could be crying because she misses her mom and siblings. I would be careful talking her outside that young. |

Thank you for the helpful tips. I only take her in the back yard of my house. She is content whe myself or my daughter is holding her. I just know from past experiences people say not to pick them up when they are whining but i didn't know because she is so young. Any tips about biting and chewing? |

First, congrats on your new baby! I know you are a vet tech and that helps a bit as she is so young. I wouldn't mix nutrical in with her food. Just keep in on hand if she shows signs of hypoglycemia. She is most likely missing mommy and at her age, I wouldnt be worried about "spoiling" her by loving on her when she cries. She needs that. Do be careful about taking her outdoors (even in your own backyard) as parvo could have been picked up on a birds feet that may have landed in your yard!!! As for the biting, she is teething. Just offer her a toy to chew on when she bites you. Stay with this....very repetitive....each time she chews or bites offer the toy. She will learn! Good luck!! |
Oh fantastic, that's wonderful news! :) So glad that she's enjoying the Royal Canin, isn't it a relief when they eat?!!? And as she's so young and tiny....just cuddle as much as you can - I would!!! Yay! Please post pics when you can! Congrats on the new baby! When I saw your previous post turn a little bit sour, I stopped commenting. I know I might be a bit bias, but I think there is nothing wrong with holding her when she cries. I think the first few days and weeks are for bonding, rules and boundaries will come later!:D But then again maybe I'm not the best person to advise on this as I baby Ziggy alot! About the chewing, I would gently remove whatever she is chewing on, say No, and replace that with an appropriate chew toy. Good luck with the new addition |
