My 4 year old female yorkie has several places on her head that are black ?
They are stuck to her head and you cannot get them off. I put all kinds of creams on them, tried different kinds of shampoo, nothing works. The vet says it is a staff infection, but I think he is wrong. Antibiotics do not help. Some are in clusters, others in a straight line, all of them on her head. She has had them on her bottom lip, and around the corner of her eyes. This is chronic. It comes and goes. Anyone know anything about this? Any suggestions?:confused:

I have no idea what this could be, hopefully someone will see this and offer some advice.

I have no idea. Call the vet who said it was a staff infection, sometimes he will change to a different antibiotic that will work. Staff is serious as in humans and nothing to fool around with I'm sure.

I will ask around.

I found this link and at the very end, you can ask a question and upload a picture. They seem to be very knowledgeable when it comes to skin problems but never more than your vet if you trust him.

I have no idea what that could be, but if antibiotics aren't helping it's time to consult with a vet dermatologist.

Did your vet do a culture on some of the spots or just diagnose it without doing and labs on it? If it is staph you really need to take this seriously and seek further treatment. A culture and sensitivity should be done to obtain the type of organism you are dealing with and the proper antibiotic needed to kill it. There are many kinds of antibiotics and the tests will show which one to use on the particular kind of staph you are dealing with. She may get a bit better on some medication but until the right one is used she will continue to have problems that could effect other parts of her body. She could also be having a problem with some sort of suppression of her immune system.
