Tibbe was chipped very soon after I got him and it worried me that he would be walking around with that thing under his skin but I relied on everybody I knew who had had it done saying the dog never seemed to notice it - and neither does Tibbe. I have pressed and palpated in the area from time to time just to be sure he doesn't squeal out or something and he doesn't seem to even notice. So, it is a comfort that at least there is a slightly increased chance that should he go missing, someone could scan him and help him find his way back to me. Our vets around here scan for chips when dogs first come in but all I have spoken to say they don't do anything if there is a different name listed for the dog. Said they can't be involved determining ownership status or even questioning it or anything. Said so many dogs are changing hands in this country daily there is no way most of the dogs' chips are up to date so they all abandoned trying to do anything long ago. At least shelters scan and try to locate the listed owner! |
My Yorkies are not chipped but wear collars and harnesses with ID on them. The never want to leave. I doubt people would check a yorkie for a chip. Call me a pessimist and I will agree. Buddy the golden is microchipped since he is an escape artist/runner. He is gorgeous but always has a healing hot spot and is a nervous ninny at times. |
all of mine are and didnt seem to mind it at all but i have noticed some migration going on i dont really like it but it happends |
CoCo got chipped when she got her spay. Our local shelter in Atlanta does the spays/neuters, rabies shot (if they haven't yet had it), and chipping for $20 cash. I had forgotten about her chipping until a couple of weeks ago when my son said he could feel it. I'll be glad when they get the trackable ones! :D |
Geno is microchipped and will be getting Mia microchipped as well. |
Enzie was chipped and we did it primarily for traveling. |
Katie Scarlett is microchipped as well. We had it done when she went in for her spay surgery at 6 months of age. |
Both of mine came to me chipped. |
I'm trying to decide whether to have it done or not. So I can see if they get lose or escape and someone finds them they might get scanned, but that doesn't concern me as my baby is never out without being on a lead and me right beside her. What concerns me more is that someone will steal her and a chip isnt going to help in that situation. |
I had Hailey microchipped when she was spayed. |
All three of mine are humane societies offer this service at reduced rates for fund raising. |
Shelby is micro chipped...We travel and she has her pull away collar with tag and her harness is tagged.....LOL..For what its worth- I also have a tag on her leashes and Petote and Kwigy bags...I figure I want all my bases covered as best as I can. |
George is going to get microchipped next month :) |
