The cat poop bandit has struck again! So I thought I had this problem solved by getting a lid for the litter box and positioning the litter box in such a way that only the cat can access it. My cat is the most graceful and agile cat on earth....Brandi not so much so I thought. Brandi has 4 left paws. She has absolutely no agility at all so i was pretty confident she would not be able to get into the litter box. Well yesterday morning, I get out of the shower and my little one is chewing on something, I go to get a closer looker and of course she took off running. So now I am running through the house with just towel wrapped around me trying to catch her. Of course she thinks it's a game and she's loving it. So finally I gave her my stern 'this is not playtime voice" and she does her little submissive roll on her back. Now Brandi over the years has figured out that when she does this instead of being discipline (not physically of course...more like a good stern no) she gets hugs and kisses. Anyway I go to look to see what and to my surprise it is cat poop. She would not let it go so now I have to take my bare hands and try and pull hard cat poop out of her mouth. Now I am wondering how long has this been going on. Heck just last night she was trying to get to it. I can't put the cat litter box up too high as my cat is getting up there in age is doesn't have the same pep in her step anymore. I don't what to do. Maybe I can try giving the cat something that will make her poop totally disgusting to Brandi. |
is there a space where you use a kid gate to box it in..this is what i did when i had it downstairs then i got smart and moved it upstairs. my punkee princess (rip) was a cat poop bandit. good luck hope you find a permenant solution. |
I thought of using a gate but I was concerned about Zoey's health. Maybe I can find something that is low enough for her to jump over but not Brandi. |
that might work...i wish i had a better suggestion. |
I guess a gate would be the best solution. I purchased a really large litter box with a lid and Gracie is just too small to get in there. She always comes and sits beside me when I clean out the box as though she is just helping. Really she is hoping I will drop something that she can swipe. I have to feed the cats on their own "dinner table" that is up where Gracie cannot get to the cat food. It's just one of the issues of owning cats and dogs. |

1 Attachment(s) my husband built this kitty litterbox enclosure with two boxes for our cats. it works very well. however we did end up covering up one doorway and placing one litter box there because our airedale figured out how to get down on his knees and scooch in to get the treats... now it works perfect.. |
Do you have an available corner? We have a litter box with a lid. We position it diagonally in the corner with the opening facing the wall (corner). The cat jumps on top of the litter box and then down to get in. It keeps Ginger out. I have a plant stand on one side that seems to help discourage her too. Ever since we did this, she has left it alone. Whew! :excited2: |

I use a large rubbermaid container. The cat jumps in and out but it is to tall for the yorkies to get into. Works well for me. |
Try a top entry litter box. ![]() |
Sophie Kate is also a kitty poop lover, after moving many, many times I finally put Avery's box in the guest bathroom tub. It is not used often (by guest), Avery can hop in there and go and Sophie Kate just looks over the edge longing for a yummy poop treat. One advantage is it is very easy to clean also, I scoop the box, sweep up any loose litter and then disinfect and rinse down the tub with the shower. |

And my cat adapted very well too! |
