Yorkie going under the couch and bed Hi, I have a 10 year old male Yorkie - lately, he's been going under the couch and or bed and doesn't want me to even go near him. He barks and growls. This morning he didn't even want to go out at all! He is eating well and drinking water. I don't know why is he behaving like that :( Any tips? Canito |
My Ziva gets so upset and hides if she messes herself- which happens occassionally when she needs a sanitary trim, or someone gives her those sticky rice treats:( |
I would make appt. with your vet, it has been my experience that when an older dog hides under the bed or behind the couch it is because they are in pain or sick. Now a puppy is another story, they just want to drive you crazy. |
Sounds like something may be wrong I would let your vet check him out. |
At that age I would definitely see a vet. He could be in pain. Best wishes. |
At 10 years of age your dog is going through some aging issues. There are too many to number but your dog is sure in distress. Get him to the vet as soon as possible. |
I had a pooch that did something similiar to this and would not let me get near him. I took him to vet and poor baby had broke his leg. We had no idea how it happened. He got a sling put on and when he got used to that thing never slowed him down could still run like lightening. Take to vet to rule anything serious out. |

Ive had him since he was 9 weeks old. He's NEVER been abused and he is spoiled, I love on him all the time for almost 7 years now, but he acts like he is beaten and abused! It breaks my heart! :( |
I bet that breaks your heart. I remember my yorkie going to the front door every not wanting to sleep with me. He wanted to sleep on the rug by the front door. I thought he didn't like me anymore. LOL He eventually got over what ever it was and started sleeping on the bed. But if he's growling and snapping, maybe he's uncomfortable and it's making him irritated or not wanting to be touched or held. I think to be on the safe side you may want to ask your vet. Hopefully it's only a stage. Good luck. |
